Interesting comparison of your GT500 to the GT350. I know my 2014 GT500 feels much better than my 2007 GT Mustang and handles far better. I will be looking forward to getting a 2018 GT350R for sure before the next GT500 is produced.

Your in for a treat man. You'll know instantly what I'm talking about. I'm not dissing the the last GT500 as it was a good car, loved the 3rd gear pull from 50mph, but the 350 is balanced and very fun to drive. You'll put your foot thru the floorboard when you first get in to start it up. Very light clutch...can operate all day without fatigue. Feels more like a race car.
I'm hoping this next GT500 adds HP while still maintaining the feel of the 350. Move the battery in the trunk. Offset the weight of the supercharger and intercoolers etc...
Reduce weight and it'll be awesome!

wonder what a 4.9 whipple would do to a 5.2?

The 4.0 Whipple on a Coyote was good for 8-seconds in the 1/4 at over 150mph. Anything bigger than than 4.0 would be extreme overkill especially on a street car.

FoMoCo was well aware of a 725-750hp Dodge product for at least 18 months. There were reports of a potential Hellcat HP bump as early as 2015 if I remember correctly.

It's 808 or go home.

Gonna need much more than 808. Maybe 850 would do it, maybe not.

I can't believe I'm living in a time where someone can say that a sub 75k car with 808hp from the factory with a warranty is not going to be enough and it's a reasonable statement.

It's good time to be alive!

Hp is only one part of a somewhat complex equation.
Unless you just want parking lot bragging rights.
Your right, and that's what pill is thinking here. To have the HP # it's gonna need to be around 880 and a fuel tune switch for over 1000. Fact is, at 755hp and all the suspension and goodies of the 350, it will be 10x the fun. Looking forward to see this beast!

I'm not sure the 350 can handle that power and torque, specially in the bottom end. The 350 just doesn't make a ton of power in the bottom and I suspect this to make 2-3 times the power down low. The 350 will be perfect to start from but they'll have to significantly beef up the components to withstand the increased power and torque. They just have to make sure that the car can put the power down.

Yes, naturally they will need to beef things up for the added power and weight (if they don't deduct somewhere else). What I'm saying here is, make it FEEL like the 350, make it corner nearly the same (if weight is added which it surely will be) and they will have a winner!

Let's throw another competitor into the ring........we know Roush will release an '18 Stage 3 and I suspect it'll follow a similar path as previous versions.

Given the new Coyote features port and direct injection, I wonder what this means for the Stage 3? I'm guessing 700hp will be relatively easy.

Also, whilst the Roush won't be cheap, it also won't come with an ADM.....although I have no idea what resale value is like in the US, and they're rare as rocking horse poop over here in the UK!

Here's the back end of the '18 Roush. Will we see this before we see the "GT500"? :)

Great questions Paul!!

Maybe we will see the '18 Roush Stage 3 before the new GT500! (I'm more than sure we will. At least we see an actual photo of them working on a '18 body.)
Also, the RS3 will be the first '18 to be supercharged as well.

It'll be interesting to see if the "GT500" uses a CPC version of the 5.2 with forced induction.....or whether it'll stick with the 5.0

If it's the 5.2, will it go port and direct injection, effectively utilising the new tech?

Either way, I have to say, the thought of an '18 Stage 3 is mouthwatering. I loved what they did with the front the '15, and I can't wait to see what they do with the front of the '18 :)

Interested as to what Roush is doing to the back of the Mustang. The left side has exhaust and the right side does not. Roush must be getting ready to try different exhaust on the right side and compare the look to the left side and decide what looks best.

I posted this in a specific '18 Roush thread:

http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74647

"All eyes were on the spoiler, but was the '18 Roush rear lower fascia hiding in plain sight?

The right hand side is the new '18GT lower fascia.........I kind of assumed the left side was the current Roush lower fascia....but it's not! It looks very similar to the current GT350 lower fascia, but I don't think it's an exact match. So, are we actually looking at the '18 Roush lower fascia on the left?"
