What I think a Mach 1 needs to be, relative to the GT/PP, is what Chevy's SS/1LE is to their "regular SS". The GT/PP isn't enough of a track car, and the GT350 is a limited production offering where the 1LE isn't.

Or, something like a GT350-lite using a slightly warmer version of the Coyote but with the full GT350 set of chassis tweaks. On aluminum wheels, not carbon fiber.

I just want a 5.2 liter FPC engine powered Mustang to be sold by any Ford dealer so I dont have to deal with the allocation situation.

I'm wondering if the rumored 5.2 CPC will be the powerplant of choice in the new Mach 1?

Well, the engine itself isn't rumoured, it's real. Ford have shown a '17MY car with the XS Aluminator (5.2 CPC) crate engine on several occasions.

And a version if that engine is in the new GT4 and FP350S race cars.

Does this point to a possibility that we'll see a production version of this engine in a Mach 1? I sure hope so :)

No more news about a Mach 1 ?
I haven't heard anything Mach 1 since the hopes of an OEM supercharged Coyote died. TT is absolutely correct though, all the pieces are there but they haven't dropped the hammer.

I never heard a rumor about an NA Mach 1 but I have heard the "Mach 1" was suppose to be the Supercharged Varient. At the time, I assumed it was a SC 5.0 Coyote making 600-620hp. All in all, it would have been enough car to handle a ZL1. But a supercharged 5.2 would make ZL1 power pretty easy, appease the aftermarket a little and likely be cheaper than the ZL1 and GT350R.

An NA Mach 1 could also cover the mid-40's/low 50's too. Maybe Cobra Jet and Super Cobra Jet.?

Personally, I forget the Coyote, Voodoo and everything associated with the Coyote, is paid for. A new 5.2 V8 isn't really new AND, doesn't really drive the cost up on the unit. Just as the Voodoo's R&D was expressed beyond the engine yet had almost no impact on MSRP. That is Ford's weapon this round, the many faces of the bought and paid for Coyote. As flexible as the power train is now, a Mach 1 could come to market rather quickly.

The question is, should it? As a stand alone model? No...

The GT will need attention first and I am hoping that there is a Mach 1 option as well as an R Package GT. Chevy makes tons of money off of the special SS's they sell. The two things the Mustang needs is an R Package and a Drag Pack, both are a pretty easy task.

Nothing other than Topnotch mentioning the model being slated between the GT and whatever the Top of the Line model will be called.

Looks like it!

Your mission (you have no option other that to accept it!) is to head down there and get them to tell you all they know!

Agreed. Meanwhile, I'll be pestering my local dealers for info.

I suspect it's nothing more than pure speculation, but pretty bold for a Ford dealer to make this statement on Facebook yesterday :)

https://www.facebook.com/richfordsa...1483439982./10154812973402208/?type=3&theater

"We know there are going to be some great new Mustangs! 10-speed transmissions, more powerful engines and, yes, the NEW Mach!"
I also live in NM. Hyperstangs usually has pretty creditable knowledge about upcoming vehicles. I remember them having prior knowledge of the gt350 and the drastic change from the 10 - 12 gt500 to the 13, 14.

I'm not saying it's 100% true, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

I know I sure hope they're right :headbang:

Whatever the next special model is, be that a Mach 1 or a GT500 or whatever, I think (hope) we will all be as excited as when the GT350 was debuted.

I had chub for like 2 days, almost had to call a doctor.
