One question, at some point would like to consider changing out my clutch for something better, I feel that it is the weak part in the drive-train of my 2015. The 2018 clutch sounds much better, what are the odds that it would work in the 2015-2017 chassis? I have never changed a clutch, so maybe it is an obvious answer.

I'd assume the answer you'll get is that if you want a twin disc clutch, you can get one now from an aftermarket manufacturer such as mcleod that'll probably be better and be able to handle more power.

Yes. McLeod has a nice twin disc clutch kit for the MT82. Designed to be used with the S550 single mass flywheel.

I'd stay away from this new dual mass flywheel coming in 2018. At least until it's been out for awhile.
Other manufacturers have had issues with dual mass flywheels in the past. The dual mass flywheel will probably be the 2018 clutch's weak link.

Considering these clutches are probably made by either an outside vendor at the lowest bid or by Ford for as cheap as they can, why take a chance?
I'm upgrading to the McLeod RST when mine fails. Already have the new flywheel on the shelf.

Crap! iPad won't let me copy/paste to just add to my last post.

Which twin disc clutch does McLeod offer to be used with the stock flywheel? RST and RXT require a replacement flywheel for proper contact. The recessed opening around the crank bolts on the stock flywheel is too large of a diameter and only the outside edge of the McLeod discs make contact on a stock FW.

Dual mass flywheel is a fail. Weighs a ton more than what you would want on then back of your crankshaft.

^^^^ this. Dual mass is a fail. GM guys have been doing it for a while, and Ford guys are about to learn. Better off with an RST.

Also, stock S550 clutches are going 600+WHP in boosted cars, they aren't terrible, they just don't handle heat very well, like many organic clutches.

I had a dual mass flywheel in my 350Z which got a lot of abuse and track time, but never let me down or gave me any issues. ????

Well, they are a weak link in some GM cars. I've personally had issues with them on a VW diesel....especially after Tuning.

You're going from a solid steel disk to a heavier twin disk design with springs and bearings. I'd bet it's going to be the weak link in the new drive train.

I've never been a fan of a DM flywheel. I've not had a failure, but I have seen a lot of them.

Just for comparison. And to illustrate why they are so much heavier.
