I can't seem to find too much about this on the net. Anyone with an auto do this? Are there gears even available above 3.73's, cause I can't seem to find any info on them.

There are no 4.10's available for these cars and there would be no need to put 4.10's behind an auto. It would be very foolish.

Tell me why? This is what I'm looking for... Input.

I currently have 3.55's.

Tell ME why you'd want to do it. Not that you can.

I gave you input. Even if they WERE available it would be a foolish thing to do. But they're not so we can end it here thankfully.

Yes, thankfully.

-----------

Anyone else that has some actual helpful input about moving to a quicker gear in an automatic, please feel free to chime in.

I currently have 3.55's. Was pondering the implications of moving to a 3.73 or 4.10 if it was an option to do so.

Most of the guys I know who have autos and do drag strip have the 3.15's or 3.31's because they're boosted.

But for an NA automatic car, I would think a 3.73 or 4.10 would waken it up quite a bit.

Steeper gears won't do jack shiit for an auto.

Look at the 1/4 list and you'll find all the info you'll need. The fastest N/A auto (RB) tried 3.73's and found the 3.31's to be faster. Just like all the guys (myself included) tried in the previous model gears provided nothing for performance.

A converter is what you want.

The 6r80 gearing with a 3.55 gear is very similar to a manual car with a 3.73. You'll see better gains from a converter.

I personally went with a circle d converter and 3.55 gear for my NA/Nitrous build.

I guess alot of pepole never seen what CasperGT and JPC accomplished with 4.10's in a 6R80 auto...

http://www.moddedmustangs.com/forum...-78-pass.html#/topics/298655?page=1&_k=e982z0

By the way that was with the stock intake manifold as well...

That being said, its not possible for the S550 and even if it was traction on the street would make me steer away from that much gear.

A converter and 3.31's with a 28" tire is ideal with the 6R80 gearing to go through the traps at the top of 3rd around 7500-7600.

4.10's have them going through the top of 4th around 6900-7000.

Casper's car was run on a closed well prepped track in -2000 D/A. It only made one 10 second pass and was never able to duplicate it.

And here Casper finally admitted after many years 3.31's are the best choice and his 4.10's were actually a poor choice.

You didn't click the link I posted did you? There is more then one timeslip there. Also it was -1500 not -2000, that's in the link I posted also. They also put a Boss intake manifold on the car and went back and ran numerous 10's again...

Anyway, I'm not saying that 4.10's were a great choice, quite the opposite actually. I'm Need4Speed03 on SVTPerf and me and Casper went back and forth quite a bit on the topic. But you can't argue with their results. I just posted the link for information and to show what they were able to do with them.

I don't need to clink the link since I know Larry personally and I'm on that site as well as SVT. My best in positive D/A was 11.2. At that track it would have been a 10 second pass. Oh and with 3.15's mind you.

Brett (WBT) has beatin that record anyways now.
