The Grand Sport is lighter and the LS3 make similar HP to the 5.0. If anyone has owned a C6 Grand Sport, how does it compare with an S550?

I am looking for something a little more track capable than the GT PP. I know I can mod the mustang to be more capable at the track but a Grand Sport just seems like a better platform to start with.

For 2x-3x the price hopefully it's quicker.

Well you can't really find a new C6 Grand Sport. Right now they're probably pretty equal in price.

I stand corrected. You are right; I thought he meant C7 and I missed it.

IMO I would stay away from the super ugly C6. Yuck. Those things are so cheap and trashy looking!

A GT PP is pretty darn capable on the track with about $1000 in suspension/IRS upgrades. The C6 may be a better platform but not necessarily the better car.

The coyote is definitely a more rewarding engine than the LS3 to drive on track.

C7 GS is hardly 2x price of GT PP. I personally like the looks of C6, however in general there is no comparison between true sports car and a car that never was and never meant to be a sports car.

The GS starts at $65,000. Pretty much 2x the price. And if you are buying for performance at the track you might want some options that will increase the GS price.

I dont know about this comparison but in my area i ve found a six gen 1le camaro for $40,500. Besides the looks, how do you guys think, a full exhaust, tune, intake, e85 1le camaro, for around 45 grand with installation, will stack up against a c6 grand sport corvette and a track pack gt350?

Sixth gen 1LE with those mods is putting a hurting on a 350, and C6GS. But that's not really a fair comparison because of the mods.

Edit: With those mods you're looking at minimum 475RWHP and 490lbs of torque. Yikes. I would say with those mods it would be close with an R.

And for 45 grand! I paid 44 grand for my gtpp back in Sep 2014. Thats one reason i want to keep the car and its paid off but the 1le and zl1 is so tempting for their prices. I was even considering trading my car for a gt350 before the gt350 was out, but it's really not worth it. When the weights were announced for the gt350, it was game over for me. Still the best looking car though.

As you said that 1le with some modes is pretty killer. Imagine adding a cam setup on top of that! 500+ whp and lbft na track monster:thumbsup:

Yeah, the 1LE is definitely the bargain right now. After some haggling you can get them for 41 all day before taxes. It's nuts. I hate talking mods though. Because I can get a nice 4th gen F-body for 10k, put 10k into it and murder.

Thank goodness that's the case. Or motor sports would be a game only played by the rich. It's nice to know you can throw 30 grand into a fox body and beat a Veyron in a drag race.:headbang:
