So what do we really know about the internals of the 5.2 engine?

We have several owners who have done FI now, and there are a lot of comments that the internals / rods wont hold up to forced induction.
Can anyone confirm our internals and does anyone have any personal knowledge of failures with our or similar engines with same parts? I'm trying to weed out the speculation and get some confirmation as to if we can safely force induce our engines to about 850 rwhp without grenading the engine or significantly reducing its longevity. My preference would be to use a Whipple.
Thanks

I like to disassemble things.
850 rear wheel on stock internals? So near 1,000 flywheel?

At the risk of simplifying I'll say this - be it rods, crank, OPG, etc, the engine isn't going to last very long.

Id like to see someone build a voodoo from the bottom up, with 12:1 compression n/a. i bet it would be easy to get another 150hp and rev at 9000 rpm....would be badass!

Even if it doesn't grenade either way you look at it, Boosting an N/A motor without upgrading the internals is going to reduce the life of that motor. The question is by how much? Could last 10k miles or it could last 100k miles but this platform is way to new for anyone to tell. I'd at least upgrade that OPG if anything. If it wouldn't void my warranty I'd be replacing it now, but if something else fails I know damn well Ford will be looking for any opportunity to wash their hands of it, so I'm not going to give them that chance...

The OPG is fine and so is the internals. The issue with FI and the Voodoo engine is the compression.

There are quite a few guys that would beg to differ on the OPG being fine. Some less that 1000 miles on the car when it failed on them :frusty: Your GT OPG might be sufficient...

That's a defect, not the part. Your OPG is stronger than the stock GT one.

Maybe so but not as strong as the aftermarket pieces!

Boost with compression isn't necessarily an issue. It actually takes allot less boost with a higher compression motor to make power. Just make sure you're air fuel ratio is right and watch how much timing you run. Obviously there's more to it than just that but there is with low compression as well. Now will the GT350s pistons handle boost? Will the rods? Will the crank? How about the block? I have no clue.

We don't know anything. Lethal had their car boosted seems like the day after they got it. Made a dyno run and haven't heard anything else. A few boosted cars out there and not one single time slip.

Sorry for the dumb question but what is the OPG?

I'm with you , and not just lethal, there's been quite a few 350s with forced induction, and so far NOTHING but dyno runs, no videos, time slips, track tests or anything, just pictures of pretty engine bays and dyno runs. What gives
