So I thought I share my thoughts and results with the community with my experience with a ported upper and lower manifolds installed on my 2015 mustang.

Baseline car is an auto transmission 3.15 gear V6. All Runs are done on Stock Pirelli P Zero Nero Tires 235 R18. The only modification done to the car before the manifolds were installed are Roush Axle Backs.

The Track used for 1/4 mile testing is Bandimere speedway In Denver Colorado. Track Altitude is 5800' above sea level.

I ran the car 7 times down the 1/4 mile on this track on 3 different event days with the axle backs.

The worst run on the base line car with axle backs was:

Density Altitude: 8444 feet, Temp 80 degrees
R/T .681
60' 2.681
330' 7.019
1/8 10.512 @ 72.78
1000' 13.499
E.T 16.03 @ 90.59

The Best run with the base line with axle backs was :

Density Altitude: 6073 feet Temp 46 degrees
R/T 1.167
60' 2.346
330' 6.493
1/8 9.837 @ 74.45
1000' 12.687
E.T 15.11 @ 94.06

Now with the upper and lower intake installed on the car I did 4 runs at Bandimere speedway on the same night.

The worst run with the ported upper and lower manifolds & axle backs was:

Density Altitude: 8601 feet Temp 81 degrees
R/T .583
60' 2.643
330' 6.862
1/8 10.252 @ 73.64
1000' 13.180
E.T 15.64 @ 92.21

The Best run with the ported upper and lower manifolds & axle backs was:

Density Altitude: 8601 feet Temp 81 degrees
R/T .658
60' 2.352
330' 6.531
1/8 9.902 @ 73.97
1000' 12.813
E.T 15.25 @ 92.86

My other two runs for the night were 15.49 @ 91.96 & 15.41 @ 92.39

Now Based off that data I haven't beat my all time best so far which is the 1/4 E.T. 15.11 @ 94.06 but i got close tonight with 15.25 @ 92.86. The big factor at play here was the density altitude and temps 46 vs 81 degrees. So based off all this data im not sure what to make of the ported upper and lower intake mod it seams to have helped a little bit but im not entirely sure. Perhaps someone can chime in on this. My launching techniques were the same for these sport mode, auto shift traction control on leave @ 1800-2000 RPM. my reaction times are fairly close and the 60' times are fairly close aswell.

You probably need a tune to take advantage of the ported intakes. Did you port them yourself or?

Your density alt has a whole lot to do with it. I would say under the same conditions, you would have infact run quicker than stock. You wont realize the full potencial until its tuned for the ported intakes, but it does apear to have helped..even though your time was slightly slower, even given the DA

Thanks Ford Guy, certainly those current DA's out here are not doing me any favors. Im going to have to wait a few months to replicate the DA / temp conditions. Im sure tuning will help bring it all together.

These are ported upper and lower set from supersix motor sports.

I just wanted to see what this mod would do by itself on the car and what the results might be.

FOR SURE turn OFF traction and stability control (hold down TC button for 5 seconds). Also the temperature is playing a big role in this! I will also agree that a tune will bring the most power out of those manifolds being ported.

Hold down TC for 5 seconds does not completely turn the traction control off, you have to pull fuse 72 Rain sensor module to completely turn it off. I know this from getting my 2015 V6 dyno tuned.

Interesting I did not know about the fuse 72. Im curious to know if people have been doing 1/4 mile runs with that fuse pulled. That said I did do the 1/4 mile runs with TC off i typo-ed that in my original post.

Most people don't about pulling the 72 fuse, I found out when I was getting my dyno tuned last feburary, when it keep kicking in and looked it up in the manual and removed it you'll get all the lights indicating that the system is off.

This fuse 72, is it in the fuse box under the hood or inside the car somewhere? Can you take it out and leave it out, or will it throw a code? Also do you still have to turn the traction control off in addition to removing the fuse. Never even knew the car had a rain sensor.

If you got supersixmotorsports ported upper and lower intake manifolds you definitely need a tune. I have ported quite a few 3.7 upper and lower manifolds myself as well with great results. After porting I got a custom dyno tune done, and I highly recommend you at least call your canned tuner and see if they can make a revision for your porting or help re-tune with data logs.

The lower intake plenum has the best flow gains and can increase port volume over 20%, from that large opening of flow directly before your heads it is important to get it tuned because its moving much more air in there and you want to maximize your gains.

Should give a solid 15/15 with a good tune if they were ported right out.
