I love doing the commute in the Mustang! Even at 5.30am :)

Grabbed these on my camera phone this morning:

Well, what a day it has been for the Mustang... where do I start.

Ill actually begin with the bad stuff.

1) Having had the car on a lift for the first time, its obvious that the under-sealing is just as bad as I was expecting it to be. Id rather they have not bothered. Whole sections missed, over-spray everywhere, random parts that dont need underseal are actually completely covered! Its really very shoddy indeed. So ive made photos and im following the progress of others on the Mustang Forums. There is a rumoured TSB on the way from Ford to have them all re-done....

A bit of rust already!

2) Ive had the LED DRLs fitted. And they are bloody brilliant. But one unit has a fault, well actually its more likely to be the control module. DRLs are functioning fine, but the left side fog light doesnt come on. The technician has ordered up a new set of lights (incl. module) and they will be re-fitted ASAP. All under guarantee, so it was worth paying the extra to have it done at Ford. Total cost incl. fitting and parts was €470.

Now the good stuff.

Firstly, the clutch spring. What a revelation. This thing is a bloody miracle. No more fluffed shifts, dodgy/jerky getaways or general confusion on what the clutch is doing. Its marvellous. Easily the best and most cost effective mod. I think you can do. Fitting took 2 mins and the part cost was ÂŁ15.

Secondly, the jacking rails. Not exactly exciting, and you have to fit them the opposite way around from the instructions. But they look like theyll do what they are supposed to and it took all of 10 mins to fit. The chaps at the garage also sprayed down some sealant/rust inhibitor to protect the are where the jacking rails sit.

The long black bar running front to back is the new rail:

Thirdly, and most importantly, the exhaust. My smile is <-------------------------------------------> this big.

B L O O D Y hell. Im absolutely astonished that two small back boxes can so utterly transform the noise of a car. Happily if you are soft on the throttle and dont mash it, its inconspicuous enough. However, plant the foot and the noise it makes is epic. Its so deep you can feel it through your body. Ha ha, im laughing thinking about it. Its brilliant and it suits the car perfectly. Theres no mistaking it for an EcoBoost now!

Total cost of fitting all of the above: €35 and a blast around the lanes for the mechanic. Result!

Some pics and a video. TBH Im not sure the video does it any sort of justice. Its just from my camera phone, and if I go any closer with the camera (or try some static rev shots) it just distorts the mic. So this will have to do until I find someone with proper equipment.

Been a while since I updated. Changed a few things on the car!

- Black Ford OE fender and Pony badges
- OE luggage net in the trunk
- Roush rear spoiler (body colour)
- Roush shifter
- Steeda short-shift system
- MagnaFlow Tru-X X pipe and new Magnaflow tubing back to the Roush axle backs.

I also ran a Ford Racing X pipe for a while, but with no resonator it made waaay too much noise.

The car is now sounding good, and importantly its not antisocial anymore :)

Been to a few meets as well:

And this is how it now sounds:

Been a while since I updated. Done quite a lot to the car.

Now running:

- PMAS no tune CAI
- NGauge with LUND 91-93 flex tune
- Changed rear tyres over to Michelin PS3

Probably some other stuff I cant remember!! The PMAS in conjunction with the LUND is insanely good!

It will be time for the first service in <2k km and the weather is starting to close in, so will put a hold on modifying until the spring and use the car as and when I can over the coming winter!

A few more pieces added:

DiodeDynamics deep red LED sidemarkers. Huge visual improvement!

Also installed a Steeda uprated clutch pedal helper - thats solved an issue I was having with a sticky clutch pedal.

LUND sent me a slightly revised tune to help with throttle response, which I am very happy with.

In the garage but not on the car yet is a Steeda shifter lower bracket and bushing.

Im totally impressed with the Michelin PS3s - night and day difference to the OEM Pirellis.

The hunt is now on for a set of 20s, but ive no idea what I really want.

you say PMAS no tune, but you have a Lund tune? why pat extra for the no tune PMAS to if you were going to tune the car?

how was the install of the PMAS. that bad boy is so huge! car looks great man.

Whatever wheels you end up going for, definitely try to make sure they're rotary forged. Great opportunity to lose ~40 lbs of rotating weight which you'll actually be able to feel.

PMAS install is easy - its just a TIGHT fit! Quality of the airbox is also terrible.

I checked first with LUND and there is zero difference in performance between the TUNE and NOTUNE PMAS. Therefore I got the NOTUNE so that I have the freedom in the future to run the PMAS without the need of a tune, should I so wish :)

Child-free afternoon, so I summoned the energy to go and lay on a cold garage floor.

Roush side-skirt fins on. Easy install, look good. Happy with that.

Also finally got around to installing the Steeda shifter bracket/upgraded support. It was a pain in the ass, exactly like I knew it would be. The process itself is easy, its just the lack of access above the driveshaft. One of the two bolts completely defeated me and I had to go and use a 4-post lift at the local garage. But its on, and it had better be worth it!

Original Vs Steeda:
