I have philosophical problems with the "fake noise" issue. Seems wrong. I'm a form follows function guy and the sound we hear should be from a free-breathing flat-plane crank. Not from a speaker. Maybe it sounds better enhanced, but I want to hear it un-enhanced and make my own choice. Now I need to read through 29 pages of this thread to see how to do it myself. That is, unless somebody wants to post a step-by-step tutorial . . . . :-)

Here you go!

[Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with any of these discoveries and take credit for none of them. I am simply summarizing what a bunch of geniuses/heros came up with in the prior 23 pages of this thread and other threads. I am trying to make this specific for the GT350 here.]
1. Need laptop with windows operating system
2. Buy https://amzn.com/B006NZTZLQ OBDLinkMXBluetooth (best connection, wifi prone to disconnections)
If your windows computer does not have bluetooth, also buy https://amzn.com/B009ZIILLI
3. Download forscan http://forscan.org/download.html (to windows computer you will make mods with)
Choose "FORScan version 2.3.3 beta for Windows - free." Will need extended version to make modifications
4. Sign up for forum http://forscan.org/forum/ucp.php?mode=register
5. Wait for registration email from FORScan
6. Obtain extended license http://forscan.org/forum/extlic.php
7. Open FORScan and Click bottom Left "About" button to load license, when successful should read, "Extended License. Registered to..."
8. Plug OBDMX into port
9. Key On, Engine Off. Car should have a full battery and DO NOT let battery get below 11.4V, risk damage. I spent over an hour connected with no battery drain problems. If you have a goal of what you will modify before you connect to car it shouldn't take more than 15min from here on
10. Start forscan on windows computer with bluetooth
11. Click "connect to vehicle" at bottom
12. Click left "Configuration and Programming button"
13. Click on APIM, IPC, BdyCM, ACM (all AS BUILT) or RCM (not AS BUILT) depending what you want to modify:
Module Address Value 1 Value 2 Value 3 Effect Model Year Package
APIM 7D0-02-01 5553 0602 C04A Mustang GT Nav Anim. All Tech/Conv/Elec

RCM Enable/Disable Seatbelt minders (can also do it manually without needing FORScan, see below)
14. Hit play button on bottom to show codes in the category from step 13.
15. Make modifications to codes as desired (Write down your original codes in case you want to ever revert changes)
16. Click write. Follow instructions given to cycle "key on engine off" / "key off engine off" if needed.
17. Hit stop button on bottom.
You can also turn off/on the seatbelt minders per the owner's manual page 31 as follows: Key on engine off, then wait until seatbelt light turns off on dash. Once light goes out, wait 5 seconds, then slowly plug/unplug seatbelt three times. After the third time the light will come back on, then plug/unplug one more time. Seatbelt light will now flash to confirm. Repeat on other seat. Repeat to turn back on if desired.

I didn't read every page of this thread so forgive me if I repeat, but the thing at the top of my list I would like to turn off is this:

Have you noticed how the throttle hangs for a second when you lift off the accelerator? That's annoying for a number of reasons. I shift the car from 1st to 3rd or 2nd to 4th, etc. at times and because it holds the RPM, you can't make a smooth shift unless you wait for the revs to drop. I want the car to rev freely up and down. As a last complaint I wish Ford had provided an optional rev matching function. I can heel toe with the best of them but on just about every sports car at or above this price point this is offered standard.

I haven't noticed my car holding any RPM when I'm off the accelerator. Doesn't sound normal and I don't think there is any way you can change this yourself, may need to take it in to be looked at.

Finally got my OBDLinkMX and the extended license for Forscan. Thanks to everyone's contributions, I added the R splash screen, the trans temp, and got rid of the dreaded double honk

Interestingly my car (tech pack) had the same as built value for the double horn honk as the 2017 conv, so I changed it to the disabled value for that.

Once done with the changes, I initially didnt have tire pressure on the gauge - had to drive over 5mph or so. Figure that got reset and had to re-read the sensors. The other thing is my miles to empty is what I get for a full tank, although I am only at half. All the trip/fuel/mileage info stayed the same. So we'll see what happens the next time I fill up

You're not crazy. The car DOES do this to aide in smooth driving for non-drivers. It is very annoying, I noticed it from day one. This is turned off in the engine calibration, not with Forscan. A tuner can do this for you.

I'm going to delete my Ac/Pwr seats. Any idea what errors this will cause and how to fix them?

Anyone know if the code for turning off the 'sound enhancement' would be different on a 2017 R?

Thanks!

This cannot be done via FORScan. You need to get the ECM reprogrammed.

WARNING: Modifying any ECM parameters might nullify your power train warranty. Likely the dealer won't care for minor items but if you ever need a major component like a new engine, trans, or rear your dealer will need to get Ford to authorize. Ford requires the ECM data before authorizing and even a very minor change will advance the Flash count on the ECU and Ford will refuse warranty coverage.

Just go into tuning with your eyes open. Despite the claims that some tunes can be reverted without anyone knowing, that is likely not the case. The dealer, thus Ford, knows what the Flash count is on your ECM. even if returned to a stock ECU tune, the Flash count will tell Ford that the ECU was modified and not by the dealer.

I have tuned many cars but I knew the risks. If you know the risks, it's all good. If not, be careful or you could wind up with an expensive repair bill.

2016 GT350 "unable to identify vehicle" FORscan

Hey,

So, I've read through the threads and I appreciate all the work/research that you all have been doing here.

My issue is I'm using the OBDLink MX WiFi and FORscan 2.3.6 beta for windows, and the software connects to the car but then reports "unable to identify vechle." I have sent FORscan support and email with my data files and awaiting a response. The FORscan Lite iOS app also will not identify my vehicle.

The OBDLink MX software, and other apps, work fine and identify my vehicle without issue.

Looking for any insight regarding how I can get FORscan to connect and identify my car. Thanks. (unrelated... JLT CAI and Lund Tune are only real mods)

Turning off the sound enhancement should be the same on all S550 Mustangs, regardless of model. Most tech pack models will replace a current value of A with 8, without tech pack will replace 2 with 0.

727-01-01 xxxx xXxx xxxx (subtract 2 from current value at X, replace with this number)

Bet that tune IS related. Remove it from the car, and try again. I have heard some tunes have locked this out, but most of them do not.
