Modern metallurgy means that engines are broken in within about 5 minutes of being driven. You don't need to break in a turbo, either. I am sure people will try to claim otherwise, since break-in is a topic with differing opinions.
It might be right at 5 minutes as suggested above but i have always been a bit mechanically sympathetic. I usually drive normally ie. no WOT but up to 80% throttle and drive through the gears up to 4500rpms for first 1000kms then i just drive how i would normally drive. Engineering explained guy on youtube suggests even modern engines require some bit of breaking in.
I do know that a lot of people on here and other locations have indicated that they just drive it like they stole it right from the start and never had an issue. but i just cant get myself to do that LOL
I pretty much gave my car about 300 miles to break in. I ran it at the track at 900 miles bone stock. And it's been tuned since it's had about 1500 miles on it. Though when I did the tune I did an oil change, then new plugs as well. It's ran great for me thus far. I have just under 26k miles in about 13 months of ownership.
