Bit long winded, but hopefully gives an idea of whats involved. Bit of actual footage at the end:)

Im going to re do the rear camera as I'm not happy about the heating element across the top of the screen.:)

Solid job on the install. Front and rear dash cams are a must for me in this car with the parking mode recording as well. This video means I may just install this myself.

Tip: The newer Thinkware firmware (F750 & F770) now super imposes your GPS speed in mph on the video which could be a little incriminating. There is a setting option to turn this off and it won't show up in YouTube videos.

Your speed and acceleration is still shown when you play the video though the Thinkware Viewer desktop application.

Enoch - would it be possible to get photos from different angles of the front windscreen and the rear windscreen from outside of the car?

I would just like to see how visible the cameras are when standing next to the car.

I installed the latest version of the Thinkware PC Viewer 1.3.3.08 and then with a Thinkware formatted microSD card inserted into my PC notebook card reader slot when I started Dashcam Viewer it offered to download the firmware upgrade to the microSD card. It also downloaded the speed camera database.

---------------------------
Dashcam_Viewer
---------------------------
New version of F750(1.00.24) firmware is now available. Do you want to upgrade now?
---------------------------
Yes No
---------------------------

This procedure was a little easier than individually downloading and copying zip files to the root folder of the microSD card.

For Thinkware F750...

The security LED on the front facing camera can be set to 3 modes (don't know what they do) and also disabled using firmware (old and new firmware).

The blue LED on the rear facing camera can be masked using black insulating tape. :)

How do you get the rear view picture in picture. Is it a feature of the F770?

I hope that the answer (for my F750) is not obvious as I've been looking to do that for ages for uploading to YouTube although I would probably want to edit the footage so that I could switch the main screen between front and rear view.

I did it in Imovie:)

You drag your main footage into the timeline... (can be front or rear)
Then drag the footage you want to insert, above the main footage and highlight it.
Then click on "picture in picture"

Ps you can also use this feature to edit out your speed stamp if you want...

There are a few tutorials on YouTube :D

Great, thanks I will give it a try.

Duh, iMovie is Apple and I'm Windows

I use Microsoft Movie Maker which is free but no longer available although I have an installable copy. It does allow me to cut and splice my movies but doesn't do picture in picture. I have been looking around for a decent free movie editor on Windows but I'm wary of most of the links as they probably come with malware.

i'm puzzled, why would you want to hide them?
is it not better for people to know you have cameras watching them?
