Car will be ready to collect tonight. The header tanks are on back order. So the gave me the option to leave the car with them, or drove it and once the tank come in they will flush the system again to make sure everything is out and then fit the new tank. They will also do another oil and filter change at that point.

I'm no engine specialist... But is it safe? I mean, others are reporting the coolers having oil p1ssed back into it? Think it was Wobs who said it took them c20 flushes to fully get the oil out.

It wasn't me that said about the flushing but my header tank looks decidedly greasy at the moment, and I will ask the Dealer to flush the system when it goes in for its first service.

Cars back home. Full service done.
Will let the car cool down and see what the coolant colour looks like. The tank will be replaced in the next fortnight I think and another flush done.
Is it safe? Who knows. I'm still gonna beat on it like I normally would. If the engine was to fail I have a paper trail of me pointing them to the TSB

What a relief for you. Did you get a part number for the new tank yet?

Can't help thinking that if I were to spot a problem with my oil cooler now I would seriously consider ignoring it until the engine seized in order to guarantee the correct tsb outcome.

Hi Jim, got my one back a couple of weeks ago. Not happy it's starting to show signs again so it's going back. I see their replacing the tank for you to, and redoing Thats a good thing, they didn't do that on my one, but will be asking them to do it now . Sadly I think this is something that's not going to go away quickly :-(

I'm writing to Ford as well to make sure they cover me afterwards.

Just a quick question, what colour is the coolent in your one, now it's been replaced ? Is it a watery green ? I'm not sure thay even put the right stuff in my one....... ?
