I was driving home from work and hear a snap and within 5 minutes I have a crack starting from the A pillar to about 1/3 of the way across my windshield. This is almost the exact spot as the one a month ago. I am kind of starting to get nervous.

Are you implying there may be a defect that is causing the window to crack? The windshield itself I can tell you from experience is very sensitive to rocks.

Our windshields are shit.

I just got mine replaced a few weeks ago and got chip in the lower corner. I dropped everything I was doing and went to my glass guy and he filled it to prevent it from spreading.

There might be a pressure point in the windshield frame that's causing this issue when the chassis twists.

Did you get a ford windshield? How much was it if you do not mind me asking I have a million chips on mine.

I'm wondering if there is an outlying issue. The first crack you couldn't even see a chip, this second crack, that is almost identical to the first, you can see a small mark but not really a chip and it's cracked all the way from the passenger A pillar to, now, the middle of the windshield. It just seems weird that every chip immediately puts a large crack in the windshield.

Is the glass cheaply made or what? I got a crack in mine a few months ago from a flying pebble too. I've never had a cracked windshield in any of my other cars.

I've got little pebble cracks in mine as well. These windshields are shit on these cars.

Gotta say I agree on this. These windshields are using some inferior quality glass! My windshield after 26000 kms is completely pitted and has around 20 small fractures in it. I keep my distance from vehicles in every direction and its never been winter driven. I have 4 other vehicles I drive year round and none of them show this level of damage!!

Bosshog and I just had our windshields replaced for $460 tax included. TBH, I was surprised at how long mine lasted with the abuse it's been through. But last weekend a big rock ended up crack-avoidance spree. Booo

Been there....done that.

I believe it is the size and angle of the windshield that makes it not deflect rocks well. My understanding is that some of the PPF companies also make a clear film for the glass?

I've considered trying to get film put on my window on my next caR. My last one had 1 chip about 1 week in, literally out of nowhere. I've also been considering optic armor and removing the stock front and rear (rear for weight) and just keeping the stock glass. Saving quite a bit of weight per dollar front and rear. I have several friends using the glass in older mustangs and they like it.

Some of you people are killing me it's GLASS, it's the most delicate material in your car. You should see the front windshield of my Porsche 997S! Glass loves to chip, crack, break etc.

Also never go Safelite or any aftermarket junk - OEM only.
