It would be nice if the 2015 was a little faster than the 2014, but when I weigh out all the improvements the 2015 blows away the 2014. The 2014 interior was horrible in comparison, and I mean horrible. The braking nose dive sucked in the 2014, the ride height was bad, the rear live axle was way outdated, the brakes are much better on the 2015, the tranny is better on the 2015.....and list goes on and on. I enjoyed driving the 2014 and I like the look of it, but when you factor in everything the comparison is not even close.

Faster is a relative term. Straight line maybe but the S550 is definitely faster around a track.

It's been said before, the videos above were comparing a broken in S197 probably in the prime of its life with a S550 with no more than a few hundred miles on it at most. Also probably with drivers used to launching on the S197, not a IRS.

The S550 with all the upgrades to the 5.0 has a lot more potential to unlock as the tuners have been showing. I'll take that over slightly better stock straight line performance any day.

Also I think it's safe to say next year's car wont be lighter. You dont have to be an insider to know that.

I see aluminum doors coming. Would shave a 100lbs between the 2 doors. Maybe some lighter glass too. There's not many other places save weight unless they start stripping it down or use more aluminum in the shell.

I don't see that happening. The car is built to a budget. Price would just go up and put it even further out of reach of potential customers.

If I had a late model stang, it wouldn't bother me...

The new Stang "looks" have finally grown on me (front end). The back end always looked sweet, I mean badazzz (looks like a 69' fastback). I always knew it was a better car (in almost every way). I think Saleen makes a front facia that can get you headlights similar to a 10'-14.'

The new one is better in many ways...

-except the headlights. The speed difference is negligible (straight line). 15' is faster on a curvy track. The rear looks better. The overall shape is better. They should have kept the round headlights IMO.

I know we're comparing, but a race could come in just fine.

Right now, there are a handful of stock 2015's that matched the fastest S197 stock run at 12.52 or 12.58. Someone claimed there is a Youtube video of a 12.4 car.

The learning curve may be to blame. But, it appears the 2015 is just as fast as the 2011-'14 in the 1/4. The overall advantage will always be with the S197 at the strip...

...always... No other modern car in the world is better suited for the 1/4 mile than the S197 Mustang.

Do we know if both those cars have the same gears? I have a 12 and with 3.73. I would imagine there is a light advantage to the s197 weight being the primary factor here. looks like 15-17 HP helps it on the top end.
