According to the latest Automotive News Future Product Pipeline, a freshened regular Mustang may get a new front fascia and 10-speed automatic in 2017 for the 2018 model year, with a Mach 1 being introduced around the same time. There is no mention of either the GT350 or a GT500. The next major update for the Mustang will come in 2019 or 2020.

So, with just this nugget of information to go on, will the GT350 be done after 2 years? Will the GT500 happen or not? Will the Mach 1 be the only performance special edition to come in the next few years?

Let your imaginations (and opinions) go wild ... :headbang:

MMMMM Mach. :D

At the risk of irritating people, I could really go for a face lift. I might wait just to see what they do. Pretty much has to be an improvement, right? ;)

Mostly subjective, I preferred the 11/12 front end over the 13/14
I thought 10 and 11 were the best. Then it got a little pig-nosed and cross-eyed.

I would imagine that a GT500 must be in the works. I would also not be surprised to see other variants, and a Mach1 makes sense as it has been a while since the last one.

Don't know when the 10 speed transmission will be complete, but I certainly expect that to arrive at some point.

MACH1....5.2 block and heads. Maybe the intake. Different cams and headers. 10 speed auto as a option. Mag shocks and the rest of the GT350 suspension. It's own wheels and exterior trim package. Revised interior with MACH1 badging. Just a guess.....

Mach 1 and the "Terminator" Cobra were produced at the same time in 03/04.

Bringing the Mach 1 name back would not preclude a GT500 at the same time.

I wonder if we'll have to pay an ADM on it, whatever it is.

Also, does anyone have any opinions on how many Ford will make, whatever it is? You know, think about it as if you were the CEO of Ford, or the VP of Marketing, or like the guy who decides how many engines they make. Also please take in to consideration vague quotes from facebook, especially ones that have been removed, hearsay, anything else you like. Let your imagination go and post up here. Be sure to use a lot of examples from Ford history, especially around limited production models. Be sure to cast lots of insults at anyone that disagrees with you.

I don't see a new GT500 until at least 2020, that ship has sailed. If the Mach 1 returns I think it'll be alongside the GT350.

I'd agree with that. It's possible ala the B302 and GT500. I could see the Mach 1 as the more luxury Mustang GT with more power, different colors, stripes etc but it would need to have more power so it's just not a stripe pkg.

Given that we know that the current GT350 dealer program only specifies model years 2016-2017, and that winks and nods by Ford guys have been given in response to questions about the suitability of the voodoo as a base for a possible gt500, I'm gonna say GT500 in MY2018 and maybe a Mach 1 as a special edition like the previous Mach's and Bullits.

Bingo....
Mach 1 will not preclude a GT500 (or the GT350 continuing). You just won't see a GT350 and GT500 at the same time... nor would the Mach 1 outperform the GT350/500 if one is built at the same time.
