So I was all set to wait on replacing the Z3's for at least another month or two, but then I stumbled onto TireBuyer.com's eBay store...

Found a full set of new Bridestone RE760s in 275/35R19 heavily discounted to $270 for all four! Given that the compound is reportedly the same, and the construction very similar/the same as the Indy 500, I decided to take the plunge. I should have them mounted by next Wednesday evening. They're a wee bit smaller diameter than the current tires (26.6" vs. 27.0"), but that can be fixed on the speedo and just gives me more aggressive total gearing for my 3.31 car :headbang:
Hell of a deal on those RE760's!
Interested in what you think of the smaller dia 275/35's. I have a 3.31 car as well and IIRC my 285/35's are at 26.9, not enough of a change to notice.
Your new effective ratio s/b about 3.44, so yeah you should be able to feel the difference.:)

Initial impressions of the RE760s are similar to Competition Orange 's of the Indy 500. Softer sidewall, VERY grippy and much, much better ride quality. The steering is a bit less "right now", but I'm ok with that because with my suspension setup, the car was actually a bit twitchy. They're quite a bit quieter than the Sumi HTR ZIII's also, but we'll see how they do with age. I was starting to tire a little bit of the roughness of every impact and now I understand it was just the tires all along.

I now have 1.5 weeks of driving and 1 autocross under my belt.

Initial reaction wasn't great on the Indy 500s, honestly. I then learned that the passenger side rear toe had bumped to almost zero and that tire was 8 psi too high which caused some interesting handling characteristics.

The sidewall is still too soft for me, but the grip is pretty great. No where near the 200tw tires, but I'd say its every bit as sticky as the HTRZ3 and MPSS I've had.

I still have some understeer at autocross that wasn't present previously, but I took about a half degree of camber out of the front and changed the tires. We will see how this weekend at Mid Ohio goes. I'll be able to determine if -2.1 front is good or the -2.6 I had before is more to my liking.

PS, awesome deal on those tires man!!! I'd have jumped on that deal for sure.

Made a new exterior video. Mic was getting a little overpowered by the idle deepness haha.

And an interior one (it's louder than this at the ear level, but it gets the tone REALLY well, and captures how crisp it sounds):

First autocross of the year, and it was a wet one! Car handled beautifully and I placed in the top 5 in the non-Porsche class and 16th overall of about 60 or so cars. The new tires gripped quite well.

My best run I did not get on camera, but the most eventful one I did! A couple big oppo-lock moments at the start and end.

GTG. Amazing what tires can do for certain situations. Still fascinates me.

Mid Ohio in the rain saturday and 80s and dry sunday. Very pleased with the tires. Turns out most of the bad feelings I had about them were alignment related. They did get a bit greasy and start giving up grip about 2/3rds through my 20 min sessions, but that's to be expected.

Great to hear! So -2 deg gave you more of the initial turn-in you were looking for?

I have it set back to about -2.6 front camber actually, which matched what I ran on the Z3s. I took some out to -2.0 and experienced understeer at autocross on the Indy 500s. The turn in is better for sure, sidewall still a bit soft, but that's the only real downside I have found with a proper alignment. I should get some autocrosses under my belt with this alignment over the next few weeks for a more direct comparison.

First impressions of the Livernois 93 v10 performance tune:

Driving normally, it's smooth and actually feels overall better because of reduced rev hang.
Pedal down: Holy crap does it pull. I have not done a 0-60 run but 5-60 is quite noticeably faster. It pulls so strong from 4500 rpm that it feels like I have 3.73s. I am loving it so far. The rev limit is at least 7500 (didn't quite hit it yet), and boy does my exhaust sound sweet above 7000! Livernois Motorsports

Indeed. I think I've decided on FRPP Touring axle backs to pair with the X-pipe, essentially giving me the full FRPP cat back. Someone else did it too....I sure like the sound:

Hey, thats me!

Haha nice. I remember asking you about your setup about a year and a half ago I think. Still one of the best clips that captures the FRPP Touring sound.
