Dunno... maybe your dealer isn't being 100% honest with you or their overhead costs are significantly higher. I'm not complaining. I have the price in writing that clearly states it includes destination, tax, tags, title, and doc fees.How does a dealership give $6,000 off MSRP when the mark-up over invoice is only about $2,500 ~ $3,000 from my recent dealings with a local dealer.
When you remove trade-ins and come with cash, they tend to be more likely to make a deal if they can even make $100... because there are always other incentives: future service work, repeat business, referrals, etc. Never mind if they think you'll buy their undercoating and fabric protection. A customer is worth far more than a single sale (usually.) And I've purchased several cars here. Not all were such a bargain. It also helps to live in an area where the next Ford dealer (or 5) aren't more than 15-20 miles away.
