Is it auto or stick?
In general 3.73 vs 3.31 diff will make gearing shorter, that in my opinion would be better in N/A application however, if you are planning to go FI then longer gearing is probably what you want.
Some people like me for example would stick with 3.73 gears even though I'm going FI this season I'm keeping my gears because I absolutely love them.
As far as your choice, it all depends on what do you want to gain out of your car, street performance, track or drag performance. All these are subject to how are you going to use your vehicle.

Sorry, Manual car

My goal is not for drag strip but for late night bridge runs

Fi and 3.73 top out in 5th around 160. Do you plan to go faster?

It's going to come down to personal preference. I'm sticking to the 3.31's since I have zero issues with getting around town or with high speed runs. Still tops out in 5th. I honestly didn't really notice a difference with my 3.31's versus the 3.73's on an identically modded GT. Without the Whipple, yeah, there was a noticeable difference.

Well yea, lol but top of your 5th should be a lot faster than his.
Assuming I didn't still have a speed limiter, yes. Unfortunately, mine cuts out at about 155.

I love this mod. Helps manage traction. With my 3:73s traction was unmanageable. Difficult to get going without lighting up rear tires. Went to 3:31s and traction is still an issue but easier to manage. With the 6 speed manual and able to stay in gears longer is a driving comfort also.

Gears are a torque multiplier. How much torque and when/where is it produced are all factors.

I have no dog in this fight....

But I love me some 3.55's when combined with boost.

Thats just me. (3.73's work, if you can spin the motor to the mooooooon)

What my question is,

If the engines power band is in the middle of the RPM
then blowing by it with the 3.73 would be a bad thing?

the car is making over 700hp and i dont feel it needs gear to get it to go
but i could be wrong?

The question would be to those that have dropped from 3.73s to other after going boosted, how much did you pick up in the 1/4 being able to stay in 4th?

I'm considering going up from 3.55s to 3.73s in my car. I have an auto and a Whipple and need more gear to get higher into the RPM range when I cross the stripe. Might even go 4.10s and run a 29" tire for better hook and book.
