Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster. I know this has most likely been covered but I didn't find a definite answer while searching; what is the widest rear tire I can run? I am running Eibach Sportlines and just purchased a set of Velgen VMB 9's, 9" front 10.5" Rear. I would like to be able to run a 305 tire in the rear with this set up, but most of the posts and pictures I see are running 295's in the back. Does anyone have experience running 305's or possibly 315's with this set up. I read somewhere the GIBSON car was running 315's in the rear on Sportlines but I have never been able to find any specs or solid info on the cars setup. The Velgen's are 20" wheels by the way. I want the widest rear I can fit; the car is Procharged so traction is a major issue. I know a set of Drag Radials would be best but the car is DD and sees rain occasionally in the summer months. Any help at all would be great. The site has been Extremely helpful in helping me with this car. Thanks again.

I have 295's on mine with sportlines. My buddy has 305's on velgens with sportlines and it looks like it would rub but it doesn't at all. My next set will be 305's for sure.

You can run any size from a 285-315

If you run a 315 all you have to do is a adjust the camber specs on the rear to -1.8-2 degrees. Now since your lowered you should actually have those specs so you would be fine.

Here is a pic of 305/30/20 Nitto NT05 tires on my car with Velgen VMB5's. No rubbing whatsoever.

Thanks for the help guys, lol I don't want to say I've lost sleep over tire selection and size but its been on my mind constantly, especially since the supercharger install and traction issues that come with it. I'm leaning towards Nitto Invo, they only make a 295-35-20 or 315-35?-20 or the Nitto NT05 in 305-35-20, any suggestions on which may be the best for my application? Im going to run 275-35-20 in the front no matter which rear I choose. Im kind of stuck with that being the biggest front size due to the 9" rim.

If this a daily driver then go with the Invo or NT05 street tires, if not go with NT555R drag radial. I don't think that you can get a 315/35/20 NT05R drag radial to fit with your eibach supersports.

The pictures of the posted cars look great. I think I'm going to have to suck it up and get drag radials. I don't think I will be able to get power to the ground other wise, even with a 305 tire. My only real concern is that the car does see rain occasionally. I understand I would really have to take it slow with drag radials. Its a catch 22, the car handles incredibly with the current suspension setup and I want to stay on a good handling tire, but now with the supercharger installed I want to have traction in straight line acceleration. Lol I know I cant have my cake and eat it too. What are you guys opinions on 275-35-20 Nitto Invo front tires and going with 305-35-20 555r drag radials in the rear?

I have had probably 10 sets of wheels over my past 17 years driving and I must say the Velgen VMB 9's that just came to my door are the absolute best looking, highest quality, and best finish I have ever had in a wheel. You can beat a 20" wheel that weighs 5 lbs less than the 17's I had on my 2000 Gt. I could not ask for anything more. The 10.5 rears look amazing just sitting on the floor. I will post pics when they are mounted on the car in a few weeks. For now just deciding on tire brand and model.

Glad you're enjoying the wheels. Always happy to hear a satisfied customer, can't wait to see the wheels on the car :headbang:

Went with the Nitto 555R 305-35-20 Rear tires and 555, 275 fronts. My next project is DSS half shafts since the drag radials have been known to snap them. I will post pics when I get everything mounted up in a couple weeks. We are still buried in snow here in VA so it doesn't make any sense to put my mods on the car. Thanks again for all the help!
