So i got a roch chip on the hood the other day and will have the hood repainted and stripes replaced.
Went to visit 2 specialized body shops and both asked that i removed the hood stripes prior to them doing any work on the hood.

So that being said, i don't want to get into a debate as to why they cannot fix it with stripes still on the hood.
I will say that they didn't feel confortable just taping the stripe and re-clearing the hood and then risking fuc&ing up the stripe while buffing it .

Inquired about getting OE hood stripes, but Ford wants an arm and a leg for them.

So i figured since i wasn't to crazy about the one's that are on the car right now, might as well have them replaced with something different.

Checked out @Big worm graphics and really like the matte black with gloss red pin stripe dual narrow stripes. Ala GT350R. ;)

1) has anyone with a GT350 had those installed ? Any color is fine .
2) how is the quality, does it compare to OE ones ?
3) are these the same size as OE ones ?

Thanks for any help and pics

If I didn't put Xpel over the front clip I would have removed the stripes completely. Read good things about the Big Worm kits.

Have those exact stripes installed from Big worm. The quality is 10/10. I have seen many stock GT 350 stripes from ford and they look like complete garbage compared to my stripe. As far as the size they are the same except there is a slight taper over the front fender down towards the front splitter to allow easier fitment. I would not hesitate to get these stripes, you will love them.

If you want specific pics PM me your email address and I can get them to you.

I appreciate you postings all those pictures of your car, so basically you got the dual narrow matte black stripes with gloss red pin striping.

Was told by some tech guy at big worms that the pin stripe is not part of the main stripe, can you confirm that ?

Thanks

Yes that is the stripe I got. The Pinstripe is not a part of the main stripe. It comes on a separate sheet and is put down after the main stripe is down. My pinstripe butts up to the edge of my matte black stripe. There is no gap between them. I highly recommend getting an experienced vinyl shop to put the stripe on for you.

How difficult is it to remove the factory stripes? Did the adhesive stay on the stripe or did it stick to the paint?

I have no clue as i still haven't removed mine yet.

But it think that with a bit of patience and a heat gun it shouldn't be too hard of a job.

Why are they asking you to remove the stripes? Is it to save on labor or do they just not want to do it themselves?

Here is what i was told by two body shops. My rock chip
is on the passenger side, right in the middle of the hood, so they would have to
tape the stripe , fix the chip, prime and pain to blend , then clear coat that whole section of the hood.
Problem is clear coat will have built higher than stripe, so when they sand it down and buff it out , there is a chance that they will fuc& up the stripe and they don't want to be held responsible for any damage that might occur.

I don't blame them as i would ask the same if i had a body shop, and besides
i don't really care for my existing stripes as i always wanted something different
colorwise.

Body shop i chose is well known so i have total confidence in them .
