Before moving to California, I was planning on building a long range bolt action rifle. What's your platform? I was thinking about just starting with a Remington 700.
I've had the urge to try that myself. I have an 03A3 Remington that has a sport stock on it, and recently purchased a Hawke Sidewinder optic for it. I know the scope isn't high dollar, but a buddy of mine that does a lot of long distance competitive shooting said they are a good "inexpensive" scope.
I need to get some rings and mounts next.

FYI, my buddy uses a Remington 700 VTR for his matches, and does quite well with it. He said the trick is finding the handloads the rifle likes best.

yep, the round is everything.

Right now, I have a savage mk II in 22LR that is really fun out to about 200yards. Where I live now, you can't really shoot any further than that anyway.

My Faith is the number one focus, then my pets, my home, my car, and conservative politics.

Without the first, the rest don't matter ...

That is something I'd be interested in. I am a machinist and appreciate the thought of the handcrafting involved.

When I'm not playing with my car...... I am just sad because it's not even here yet. =(

Man, good question! I play with my 2 boys now 12 and 9. Whew! They ware me out....playing ball and trampoline.
In my "free" time. I have recently got into FPV racing. FUN STUFF. I also do all sorts of RC stuff... have about 100 models of all types. water, land and air. I sometimes go to the hobby shop and drop one or two off on consignment and then pick up another couple of new ones.

I also do legos with my sons... well...they are starting to grow out of it now.
I collect vintage toys of all kinds.
Used to like to do garage sales but can't find anything "good" at them anymore, so I stopped going. What I typically would try to find was anything fun and vintage.
Fished since I was a tike...love to do it. Picked up chronic lyme disease from walking ponds in the area when I was young.

I'm an avid metal detectorist and go quite frequently with my brother.
Do motorcycle riding on my Yami 900, mini biking on my honda 50's and 70's and some backroading on my 450 rancher.

That about sums up what I do most of the time.

I actually just picked up my new long range rifle yesterday! Enhanced Ruger Precision in .308 with a 6.5 barrel to come along with a suppressor!
