The mustang making a 100 hp jump from 2010-2011 isn't a large stride? Or going to IRS? Also the new 2018 seems to be underrated at 460hp based on dynos.
They also made a huge mistake by staying so similar after moving to a new generation, the camaro is still trying to sell the transformers look which to me is dated and boring. Looks like a mid cycle refresh not an entirely new gen. I bet most casuals have no idea.

The Cobras from 96+ we're very competitive at the time. They weren't necessarily whooping the competition, but they were competitive. Nothing I would consider "embarrassing".

If I remember correctly it just barely kept up with the GT class Z28 at the time (meanwhile the SS was flagship then) and the GT was just totally outclassed. It was sad. Fortunately the bean counters and fuddy duddies running ford at the time must have been ousted because since 2003 terminator cobra it's been an amazing ride.
