My seller said they'd refund me the money. Was surprised to hear that/get a response at all. I believe it when I see it.

I always try to buy directly from a well known vendor, or manufacturer. Sometimes I am looking for knock off parts and do go to Ebay. But at is usually for things that quality doesn't matter on.

Companies might be wise to use a shell entity to source parts.
Use a front company.
If you work with suppliers and they can just look up your website and see how end part is marketed, then they just copy.
Even if you buy from a US supplier, there is little guarantee they did not outsourcing it further.

This is exactly what seems to have happened in my case...

I always buy from trusted vendors too but who would have thought forum sponsors could sell fakes. I sent an email to SocalPonyParts and im waiting for a reply. I used paypal so i can probably make a claim.

For those reading this, if you have purchased from them on eBay - I strongly encourage you to leave them negative feedback.

What they are doing is illegal and hurts us all, even if you saved a few bucks.

Not to mention potentially dangerous. Who knows if their welds are any good or what type of metal is used.

Ebay has a way to remove illegal copies, though I don't know how painful it is to use.

Most of these are add-ons, aren't they ?

However it blows my mind they're a forum sponsor... I called them out long time ago on an accessory being sold at higher price than available from Ford, back then it seemed shady...

The "square" hyperlink posted earlier in this thread is just a business domain in order to funnel orders through to the business.

SoCalPonyParts on here is the SAME as the eBay vendor SoCalPartsDirect - because BOTH are offering custom drawn Mustang renderings as noted on the web links provided and the User's own posting on here (which I linked back to on page 2 of this thread).. The user also has the name of "RYAN".

The address to the eBay seller is below, HOWEVER it seems multiple businesses are using this location:
7556 Trade St
San Diego, CA 92121-2412

The below is the WHOIS info, but whomever had registered the domain name is hiding behind "1and1.com", which is just another site where folks can register web site names... maybe someone who is more of a sleuth can locate the real info...

It stinks people do this. I've used BMR parts since 2011 and absolutely love them. Original parts.. Original Company..

For this one part, maybe. But I'm sure they are knocking off many other parts. And depending on how it broke, who knows where the bits and pieces could end up.

Its pretty normal these days
to be able to buy a copycat
but to reuse your name is fucked up

Maybe BMR has some bad karma, work on it..

F@*k, I got the knock offs. I could vomit. $$ down the drain.
Don't sweat it. If it's working you didn't throw your money away. There's probably very little actual difference other than what appears to be mostly cosmetic. It may not be BMR but that doesn't mean it's necessarily an inferior build. There are some very skilled people in China, along with quality CNC machines. It sucks that it's happening to BMR but you don't need to vomit and what you have is probably worth the presumably significantly lower price than BMR charges.

And if you DID get it much cheaper and wouldn't have paid the actual BMR price, then BMR didn't even lose a sale. Possible damage to their reputation due to the blemishes is what I would be most angry about if I was in BMR's shoes.
