Hi guys,

I'm approaching 1000 miles on my GT350, and I had Ford Performance oil catch cans installed as soon as almost day one (<100 miles), both on driver side and passenger side.

Not knowing how often I have to empty the cans, ie how much oil it catches, I decided to take a look last Saturday along with an oil level check. The car still has the factory oil in and I'm planning to do the first oil change soon after the brake-in finishes.

Long story short, I found the driver oil can completley dry...not a trace of oil inside, nor on the filter and not on the connecting tubes also. The passenger side had close to a half an inch of oil in it. Weird that one had some and the other none. I double checked the connecting tubes for the driver side and it was all fine...

Did any one of you experience this?

Completely normal. I have the JLT catch cans, I did 3 track days so far and the driver's side is always bone dry and the passenger side is collecting quite a lot of oil...

So driver's side might not be needed afterall.

Thank you!

I might have thought that once I get the car on track or under serious lateral G-s and hard accelerations, the driver side would eventually get filled too...

If you note where the PCV tubes connect to the intake tract, you'll see the passenger side connects between the engine and throttle, which exposes it to engine vacuum, sucking in all that oily mess. The drivers side is before the throttle, and is not exposed to vacuum, and should remain relatively clean in comparison.

Thank you for the explanation!

I have a GT with both cans (and a GT350 "CAI")... my driver's side had like a drop in it after a few track days, haha. I basically got it because I forgot to get the GT350 vacuum hose and figured WTF I'll get the catch can.

I get some moisture but no measurable oil in the drivers side FPP separator. I also get about the same amount of oil in the passenger side as you do.
