Don't sweat it. If it's working you didn't throw your money away. There's probably very little actual difference other than what appears to be mostly cosmetic. It may not be BMR but that doesn't mean it's necessarily an inferior build. There are some very skilled people in China, along with quality CNC machines. It sucks that it's happening to BMR but you don't need to vomit and what you have is probably worth the presumably significantly lower price than BMR charges.

And if you DID get it much cheaper and wouldn't have paid the actual BMR price, then BMR didn't even lose a sale. Possible damage to their reputation due to the blemishes is what I would be most angry about if I was in BMR's shoes.
Common sense finally :) A bunch of few pipes welded together works same way regardless of how they look.
I have to respectfully disagree with these comments and will explain why. It is a known fact that the Chinese like to take parts and clone them and then resell to unsuspecting customers through so called dealers on Ebay, Amazon, etc. The average consumer can't even tell the difference between the real part and the fake one. Well, at least they can't until the part fails because it was cheaply made with inferior metals or parts! I will give you an example since I have seen first hand what happens when a Chinese clone fails!

I own an audio/visual company and do commercial audio/video in schools, state government, colleges, and churches. Several years ago I was called in to quote a sound system on a high school football field. I quoted the job using Electro-Voice SX300PIX water resistant outdoor speakers. A few weeks later I was notified that I had lost the bid on the job and that another company had beaten my price by a little over $2k using the exact same speakers and equipment. OK, no big deal. If someone wanted to do the job I quoted for that then more power to them. I knew my pricing was tight so there was no way they were going to make any money on the job and I can't afford to work for free.

Fast forward 1 1/2 years later and I get a phone call from the school wanting me to come out for a service call as one of their EV speakers fell apart and dropped off of the field house 15 feet to the bleachers below. I get out there and discover their EV speakers were not made by EV but instead cheap Chinese clones that looked exactly like the EV counterparts. Sadly, exterior looks were the only thing that these speakers had in common with the genuine EV's! The speakers in the cabinets were cheap junk. They were by no means waterproof. The plastic cabinets were assembled with cheap pot metal screws unlike the stainless steel hardware that EV used. In fact the failure was caused with the screws rusted and broke loose allowing the entire front of the cabinet to fall off to the ground! Imagine if someone would have been sitting below when it happened. Someone could have been seriously injured or killed!

The bottom line is this. Went you buy cloned products you have no way of knowing the quality of the product itself and you can rest assure there will be on one standing behind the product should there be a failure. Not to mention we are talking about cloned suspension products here and a failure could not only injure you and your passengers, but other drivers on the road as well should something happen! Then the first thing to happen is BMR will get bashed for something beyond their control!

So I have a question. Which one is the actual BMR ones in the OP pics? Cause the pic on BMRs site looks like the on without that lip in the main bracket. But then I see images of plenty of BMR CB005s even posted in BMR threads with that lip. Yet the nicer one looks to be the one without the lip.

Peace of mind is priceless. It is not worth the risk when your life and property are on the line. If this mod was purely for looks then I see your logic but we are talking about something that has been engineered by real engineers

This is really really funny. What about all the cars without those mods ? Did you think about this for maybe 2 seconds ?

Of course counterfeiting is bad and I personally despise it, but talking about risking your life is laughable.

Respectfully, auto suspension parts and speakers are two very different products. Without actual testing on the metal and welds used in the knockoff BMR product in the first post, no one can say how good or bad the quality is.

But I will say this...among many other quality products in our lives our own MT82 transmission is Chinese, right? Some people may not like the behavior of it but they aren't blowing up either.

I am in no way defending the action of the counterfeiters. It's theft. But, the guy I was responding to specifically didn't exactly throw his money down the drain as he seemed to think.

Back in 2008 I bought about $4,000 worth of parts from a well known East Coast Corvette specialist for my Corvette at really cheap prices. All the parts were drop shipped from the various manufactures, but what this sleaze ball did was disappear and not pay the vendors that shipped me the product.

Paid $180 and not putting anything on my car that is most likely of inferior material/quality, and has potential to break, cause damage to the car or others.

They copied our first design.

The BMR Parts in the images on this thread are the second revision.

I bought all of my BMR parts directly from the BMR website so I never have to worry. I quit buying that crap off EBay 10 years ago.

Why? I bought a SD card for my Canon DLSR that unknown to me was a 2nd. The label on the SD card was reversed and when I put it into the camera it crushed all of the pins and turned my $500 Canon DSLR into a paperweight. I was in Italy at the time so missed our last 5 days of pictures because we only brought the one camera.

These pieces of garbage that sell this stuff should have the crap beat out of them. So now I NEVER look for something cheaper. Lesson learned.

I hate the counterfeits in the industry but you know what I hate more? The people who say it is OK to buy counterfeits because they are cheaper and work the same.

From the bottom of my heart I say to you, go choke on a bag of dicks.

When you buy counterfeit parts, you are hurting the companies that do the R&D and actually design these parts. Yeah, you may have never been their customer due to the price they charge, but by purchasing a counterfeit you are sending a clear message to the counterfeiters that the products are in demand and they will keep knocking off more parts.

If you can't afford legit parts, you can't afford to modify your car.
