My guess:

GT - 5.0 NA (confirmed)
Mach 1 - 5.2 NA CPC
GT500/Cobra - 5.2 FI CPC

7.0 - No way

This pic makes me think that my rendering should be really close to the real frontend of the GT500 :D

I like the scoop on the rendering. It is really unique. All in all , I would buy something that looked like the rendering. If it had a 7.0 liter V8 , I would buy it no matter what it looked like.

I dont think so. Why would they put a heavy camp bra on the car if it was the same front end underneath?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, isn't the new GT500 going to have the new facelift/bodystyle?
That's not the new GT500.

That's not the new GT500.

Could just be a mule for the drivetrain components? Or it could just be a Ford Performance SC kit for the existing GT350?

Might be a CP crank version that is being supercharged, but like everyone else I find it doubtful Ford would slap a supercharger onto its flat plane screamer. Although it does make you wonder if the supercharger effect on NVH.

At the risk of derailing the thread even further , I also like the talk of the 7.0l . Makes you wonder what a dohc 7,000 rpm capable 6.2 based 7.0 engine could do. The 2010 raptor xt (no vin) had 500hp just with some different cams, and from what I understand the sohc 2v 6.2 truck heads flow as good as or better than the 5.0l. I also skim from unsubstantiated sources that ported 6.2 heads approach 400cfm on the intake side (some say 430cfm or so). Certainly makes you wonder what would happen if ford just gave the boss (302) treatment to the boss 2v 6.2 heads (CNC bigger valves , more aggressive cams, the works). With the additional unshrouding of the valves from the ptwa treatment, more cubes and some more aggressive camming, seems like 600+ hp could be had, without resulting to the dohc treatment. I am not sure about fitment, however given the 6.2 has a shorter stroke than a 5.4, wouldn't it likely be narrower? I honestly couldn't find any measurements , but I would be surprised if it was much wider than a dohc coyote. I guess it would be about 2 inches longer, based on the bore spacing, which could be problematic. Somehow I see ford making some gorilla of an engine then trying to cheap out and use the getrag behind it, lol.

I like all this speculation, but do remember that Ford Performance is not into producing "thrill rides", they are making racing cars. To compete.

So, the rumored 6.2 - 7.0 could end up in the Mach, etc. But I highly doubt you are going to see it in the GT500.

Not the same car. And, the car being used for testing is a 350R... As you can closely see, the grille snake is not red, therefore, not same car. Wrong color too. The new pearl White looks vanilla in lower light, such as this pic. Whereas, the Test mule "R" folding ZL, was Oxford white.

Ford will not be doing a GT500 replacement with a very new engine, that has not proven itself. The future car will be called Cobra again. There are twin turbo 5.0's out here running around. But after having been at a meeting with mustang execs, there are a lot of good old 13-14' GT500 5.8 Trinity motors still around, in crates, that could get twin turbos.

I truly can't see Ford taking a huge risk on a virgin motor lift the 5.2 for the flagship performance car. There is also a new Mach 1 probability coming in a yr or two. But definitely no BOSS 429.... Think de-tuned Cobra Jet for the street.

They've got 4-5 different test mules, all with different camo, some front only, some front and rear, etc. but if you look closely at the pick of the car with the all blk front only camo, you can see the front bumper body lines are 2018 in shape.... You can see pokeadot tape on the fog light side intakes of the new 18' ....
