Apologies for double posting. IN the Turbos thread, someone was worried about fuel usage, and I posted the reply below. I'm interested in other people's thoughts regarding fuel usage AFTER your first inspection at 3000km.

I wouldnt be so down on range at this point. The first 3500km were woeful - a full tank getting me 340-370km (in the 15-16L/km range). That's my daily drive, predominantly the work run, a slightly optimised 25km journey, but a LOT of bumper to bumper stop-start stuff.

THEN.....she went in for her 3000km inspection - God knows what they did. THey claim there were no changes made, just checking things over, but by god has the feul economy changed. My daily work drive now is hovering at 12L/100km, sometimes even going to 11.6-11.8. I wouldnt say i'm an overly cautious driver, but if you really pushed it in the city you could go towards 500km/tank. As a further example, last week I did 440km and when I filled up, I put in 54.5L, which comes out as 12.36L/100km, all city driving. Not too shabby.

I spoke to the guys at Mcinerney Ford where she was serviced and they swear black and blue they didnt do anything. I can help but wonder though if there is some setting that they change at that first inspection......anyone have any other suspicions like this.

As far as country driving is concerned, I've been on a couple of decent drives and seen 9.5L/km sustained, so you'd be potentially looking at nearly 600km from a tank....

It will just be an odd coincidence.

Nothing they do at the 3,000km piece of mind inspection would have an impact on the fuel consumption - take that from someone that once worked for a Ford dealer's service department.

Edit: Just to clarify, all they do at the POM inspection is check the fluid levels, tyre pressures, check for leaks, recalls and do visual inspections of the underbody and engine bay - rectifying anything noted obviously.

No change in my fuel consumption after my 6 month service (1200km).
I'm averaged 13L/km (Auto). Not my daily drive but I dont go easy on the pedal whenever I get a chance to drive it.

So after my cai and tune at Blue Power Racing my fuel usage has decreased from 16.9L/100 to 15.4L/100km and it is still decreasing which is great.

I am mainly stuck in CBD traffic so I am very impressed, who knew that making your car more powerful makes it more economical at the same time?

Anyone got a worse average than 19.5l/100km? Not that I really care about that, I just wish we got a bigger tank haha

Would be nice if 3000km was a magical turning point for economy, I think phil545 experienced similar

hey msweet My car certainly changed at 3000km, it was crazy ridiculous how much better the economy got, I'd filled up full, then did a run up and down the the M1 and on the way back i gained 110 DTE. by the time I got home from that drive to Quakers Hill my DTE from when I first filled up only went down by 8km.

Madness!

Im yet to get my first service done but Im presently sitting around the low 13's and around 430 to a tank. Cant complain about that, seeing a majority of the time I am sitting in a lot of traffic

I'm 2000km in and averaging 13.5. Not too bad, I don't drive too economically. And find it hard not to give it a spurt at least once per tank. Bought the car to have fun I figure.

I've only done 844km and the car is indicated 12.4 Lts/100km with and average speed of 38km/h.

Filled it up for the second time last night and showing 525km out of a full tank.

I have a GT Auto , daily drive in peak hour with 60% of my drive in 60 km or less zones and the other 40% in 80-100 km zones.

7,000 now after 6 months and around 17l per 100 as a DD in traffic. Trips drop it a lot but they are the exception
