Has anybody besides a shop done this yet? I'm getting mixed reviews on a built 6r80 and if it will hold the power we plan on making. Goal is to run mostly 1/2 and 1 mile with some 1/4 mixed in and street use. I plan on calling JPC later today. I spoke with Power by the Hour last week on the 6r80 but their swap is almost 9k! And want me to run a buch of 11-14 crap.

Any helpful input would be appreciated.

The 6r80 starts giving up a nice chunk of et compared to a th400 or glide once you hit the 8s based on before and afters I've noticed. I've also seen that the 6r80 seems to break with a trans brake and 2 step eventually. Now I've never ran a 6r80 but it seems they don't live a terribly long time in the 8s or 7s compared to the th400 or glide. I vote th400 or glide and don't look back. I'd rather have a bulletproof trans then a built stocker on what seems to be borrowed time. I'm going th400 over a glide unless I'm told the glide will be better for my goals

I spoke with Watson and jpc. Watson says th400 but jpc says glide. I'm torn

Thanks for the input, I'm a worried the 2speed glide and 1/2 and 1mile events won't work well together. I know they both are awesome in the 1/4. Yes I do plan to run a break and 2-step.

I also spoke with Proformance racing trans and they told me th400 no gear vendor and the 2:10 gear set. They said with a propper sized cooler I wouldn't need to worry about overheating it on the street. Said the vendor was a waste of money in my case (high 7s)

Travis also suggested a th400 as well. Jpc is the only one saying glide.

If i buy th400 its coming from Proformance. It was about 5500 to 6500 for their built th400 and was rated for 2000hp. Some other parts you gotta buy to make it work like a driveshaft etc. If I recall right It was about 8k all in

Just spoke to JPC, said 400 with 2.10 first and 10" converter. With out the ds it's 6500ish. I have a ds coming with the 9" rear end.

Comes with "everything" whatever that means lol. Said lead time is a week ish so that's cool.

.

They are saying that because 2nd on a glide and 3rd on a 400 are the same gearing.

How will daily street driving be with a th400??If its going mostley a track car i guess it would not matter, but if driven on the street a good bit i heard the drivability is bad.

I have a few friends running them in various chassis. From a supra, sn95 cobra, camaro and driveability with their manual valve body set up has been great. It doesn't feel a lot different than any other auto you manually can shift but with a quicker response to shift

What happened to 2:10?
Didn't want to pay the extra 1k for it lol. In the 1/2 and mile suff I'll be short shifting out of 1st anyway for traction.

What did they tell you for lead time? What shifter does their "kit" include?
