Hey guys just curious if any of you with a non R 350s that have done R spec wheels and tires if you have had the car programmed as a R so the speedo and traction control systems are more correct for the new combo?

Also is there any downside to putting R carbon fiber wheels and tires on a non r if you change the springs and sway bars but leave the original non R shocks?

Have read several things from various articles stating the carbon fiber wheels on a non R would not be an advantage unless everything is changed.

A lighter wheel on any vehicle is advantageous. For an overall improvement doing the springs, sway bars weight reduction wheels and tires will get you very close to the R without having to mess with programming. Will programing tuned to the specs of the R hardware be better SURE!!! But the shock/struts are not the same and if you ask me its not worth the hassle. R wheels or any wheel significantly lighter than the OEM 350 wheels will be felt as a huge improvement in the handling dept.

^ Is that a fact: the R MagneRide dampers and non-R MagneRide dampers are not the same physically? I've searched, I've just never seen that stated anywhere. TIA.

Physically the same kind off. Internally though the valved orifices are of smaller diameter. I will find you a source. stand by!

here's one. Ill keep digging!

From article,

"The MR shocks are also unique, with the internal piston orifices smaller on the R".

The R has a "tighter orifice" , very nice. That may explain some of the increased pleasure while riding.

What about the speedo calibration? Other wise thanks for the information.

I just figured all the programming data for the traction control etc especially when pushed would be effected more with the difference in diameter and available traction.

I wonder at what point it makes sense to buy the R shocks? It's a pretty common mod to buy low profile tires, R springs, R rear sway bar, spoiler and splitter. Maybe it's the 12 lbs per wheel that make the difference for Magnaride part number?

The info is in the "GT350 FORscan tweaks". Follow the instruction.

And then you go to BCM line 726-12-01
If you rear tire size is 305/35/19, you will have the following xxxx 0843 xx (x's mean leave the value that's already present.)
If you want to change it to fit 305/30/19 rear then you change it to xxxx 07E6 xx
If you want to change it to fit 315/30/19 rear then you change it to xxxx 07F8 xx
If you want to change it to fit 325/30/19 rear then you change it to xxxx 080A xx

Awesome info thanks!

If I don't have FORscan can the dealer make these changes?

HMMM dealer ADM on a R 20K plus

R wheels and tires approx. $12000
R Front Hubs approx. $700.00
R suspension components approx. $2000
R front spoiler approx. $1000
R rear wing approx. $4000
plus a new deck lid and paint add $1500
Programing to R specs guessing $200.00

Total $21400

Loss on your current car in trade probably close to 10K

And guess what its still not a R dealer markups are stupid crazy but are still cheaper than trying to upgrade a non R to a R.

The thing that is ridiculous is how great of a bargain a R is at MSRP

So sad the dealers wont come off there high horse!

I think your estimate is really conservative as it does not include labor. Also the wheels are going to run you more than 12k alone and suspension tuning is available and is more than 2k. Either way I agree with you. I was going to get my Track pack as close to the R as possible. But then I found my car for a steal and never looked back. The R is really a miracle in terms of bargains. Sucks cuz, ADM!
