I have never owned or thought of owning a Mustang prior to the GT350.

I have been a contemporary car guy for many years +30 eek. I've always sought the highest performance I could buy for what I could afford. I don't buy to have a garage queen. Like many of us I wanted to race, track or autocross each of my cars. I've owned and built some serious track cars mostly corvettes as they offered the greatest performance for my money. I have also had M3's as when I started autocrossing they were also great performers for the money. I still own a 2009 Z06 that I probably will never sell. However I recently sold my sweet M3 daily driver to buy my GT350. I've always wanted a GT3 however I couldn't justify the premium but I'm sure I will get one some day.

I'm curious the background of where others have come from. I am shocked that I now own a mustang...GT350.

I got the V8 bug last summer 2016 when I bought my 1970 Buick Skylark Custom (2bbl 350 CID). It bit again early 2017 and I started looking for 'new muscle' to trade my 2013 Maxima in on. Researched all American muscle on the market (not interested in German, cannot afford Italian) and narrowed down to GT350R, Z06, ZL1 or Mustang GT w/Hellion Twin Turbo. Also considered 370Z w/twin turbo but the lineup seems dead.

The R is just special and I feel I made the right choice.

OP, similar to you, I always bought the most bang for the buck and had numerous Vettes, CTS-V, SRTs, Vipers.... BMW, Audi, Porsche, MB couldn't offer the performance I was looking for (but owned some of them also).

Currently my daily driver is a Hellcat and the R is my weekend / track toy. (Bought a 1992 5.0 triple white vert for my then GF, now wife 10+ years ago, so this is our 2nd Mustang).

Really love the GT350 and the driver experience, it's special! (I do miss the Viper community and the presence/ looks / performance of the Viper though.) Want another one...if I can just be patient and save some pennies.

As a kid, I always admired the original Mustangs and Shelbys of the '60s. As a teen I grew up on American muscle. My very first car was a used '73 Plymouth Duster and all of my car buddy friends had used '60s or early '70s muscle cars from Chevy, Ford or Mopar.

As an adult, I worked my way up the ladder to afford the best in Japanese sports cars (cuz in the 90's American sports cars kind of sucked) and then later in life - German performance cars from Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Porsche.

Never thought I'd be back in an American car or buy a modern Mustang. Yet here I am and very pleased to be back to my muscle car roots!

I've owned a lot of Mustangs. Most of them were 80s models. Not a great car, but cheap, plentiful and easy to work on / upgrade. After the Coyote came out I started buying newer Mustangs. I never wanted a 4.6. I've driven Porsche and BMW. I really like the body and chassis of Porsche, but the engines aren't that great and in my opinion Porsches are over priced. I've also looked at other domestics, but around here the Corvettes are over priced IMO and none of the Camaros or Challengers I've driven do it for me. I've only bought two new cars in my life and it may be a bit of an anomaly. Now that I have a car I really love everything else I look at seems like garbage.

I don't fall into a single category when it comes to cars. Lets just say I know what I like when I see it.

'89 Honda CRX
'99 Ford F-150
'00 Mits Eclipse
'09 Nissan 370z
'03 BMW 3-Series
'16 Ford GT350

Since I am in the military and have had some overseas assignments, sometimes you buy what is available and not what you would had chosen.

What about Japanese sports cars?!

Mine are all in my signature but:
1991 Nissan 300ZX Twin-Turbo
1995 Mustang GT
2016 GT350

And I still have all 3. I get too attached to my cars to sell them...
