A rear brake conversion is one of the things id most like to do on mine. Cant believe Ford were lame/cheap enough to give the GT cars the calipers they did.... especially when Chevy give you a lovely set of Brembos on the rear of the Camaro SS.

Which parts have you used? A straight 350 conversion, or something else?

:)

Got to say I'm chuffed to bits with the outcome.... took a bit of sorting out and I've wasted a bit of time and money along the way.:D

So I've got stock front calipers just painted red, and fitted with braided hoses.
Willwood front rotors, which I'm going to have to change for Girodiscs when they arrive...

The reason being, the Willwood rotors don't work with the Brembos.....not enough swept area so the pads overhang on the inside.:frusty: hard to explain, but trust me the Willwood rotors only work with the wilwood calipers....

Mine will be ok for a week or so, but if the Girodiscs are delayed, I'll have to fit the stock rotors until they arrive..

At the rear we just have the Willwood rear kit, 14" rotors, 4 pot calipers, braided hose, and a separate handbrake caliper...

It's a very comprehensive kit and comes with everything needed......apart from the Brembo stickers:lol::lol: nudge nudge

Looking good, buddy!

Let me know if you go down to Shelsley again. I was there last Sunday with the M3. Great morning. Lovely 512BBi there but no S550's.

I was wondering how this compares with the gt350 brake setup all round. Wrong turns aside, what did yours end up costing?

Without the wrong turns the whole set up cost give or take £2700....

I haven't had the bill from the garage yet for fitting the rear set up yesterday...

I estimate another £300 ish.... so £3k all in.:)

Hmm, interesting. Definitely puts it on a par with the Levittown kit. Of course there are no bargains - it's a mustang! Great mod.

Looks great!! Like the idea of the separate handbrake caliper.. does the stock system have shoes inside the disc or mechanical piston clamp in the caliper? If it's the latter, they always play up so your solution is a good one down the road..

Do the Wilwood calipers have dust seals on the pistons?

Hi Nige......yes:D

The stock rear calipers have a mechanical piston clamp. I think the GT350 set up that Mac has uses a drum and shoes system.;)

The Willwoods don't have dust seals. But past experience on my TVR says this shouldn't be a problem.

I don't use the car much in the crap weather, and it's easy enough to remove a caliper to check them every now and then:thumbsup:
