:eyebulge: The horror!
I know right.

Yesterday whilst driving around, I noticed a few intermittent puffs of white powder come from the passenger most side centre dash vent.

That side is still cooling, but I suspect that it won't be for too much longer.

:tsk:

just a few pairs of headphones mate :lol::lol::lol:
I must remember to bring back a few individually wrapped evap cores from Colombia on my next visit.

They'd make great gifts for my wedding party.

My aircon compressor always wanted to be a supercharger and started whining like a roots type blower. Took it to the dealer who started to say " they all make a bit of noise" until I started the car. They had it all day to then tell me they thought the compressor bearing had gone. Just like I had told them when I booked it in. So they never had one and I had to wait a week for one to be sent up from Melbourne. Booked in again and another day to replace and re-gas. All seems good now.

Looks like mine is failing too... Started to see the power (assume its refrigerant?) coming out of the passenger centre vent. The silver ring around the vent was ice cold compared to the other vents.

Then a day later the compressor started whining badly. I always have the air-con running so at first thought the noise was driveline or transmission related. Sure enough though turn the AC off and it goes completely silent.

Have just turned it off for now but looks like I'll have to go visit the dealer. Done about 8,000km on mine.

My is 14 months old 5000km and same problem AC failed. Dealer told me to wait in line they have eight cars in front of mine with the same problem. The service tech that looked at mine told me he wasn't looking forward to summer this year with all the AC failures that they are expecting.

Mine is just about totally rooted now - blowing slightly cool air on the passenger side at LO setting and that's it - driver's side is warm.

It was making a noise reminiscent of what my guts sound like after a dodgy vindaloo and half a case of beer this morning.

Death throes of the evaporator I suspect.

My a/c compressor threw a bearing 2 weeks ago and is getting replaced Monday.
I think Ford should think about ordering more and also investigating the failures.
My car has done 15000 kms.

My air/con has packed it up again after 6months ....
time for them to do something other than refilling the gas.
Hopefully it will be fixed for good this time.

My AC failed yesterday... during the Hunter valley drive.

Luckily its winter and windows down was comfortable.....if it happened the last time we drove putty road, it was like 44 degrees.... thankful that the aircon was working that day! was a very comfortable place to be.

anyway.... last week I had the (i assume) compressor making noise on cold starts, would whine and increase with engine revs.

Turn the AC off and the noise would go away.

But now its stopped blowing cold air.
It is still blowing air (hot) through the vents, at all temperature settings.
no smell of refrigerant or the white snow/powder stuff blowing out of the vents that some report.

So heres hoping its just the compressor that has packed it in and not the evaporator core. As (i think) that is a much more straight forward replacement!

Has anyone in Aus actually had the evaporator core replaced?

I'm waiting for Dominelli to get some practice in pulling the dash out before I run the gauntlet.

Let me know once you've been and I'll book mine in.

Mine was built around the same time as you Rob so no doubt mine will pack it in soon enough. Drew you're first

:paddle: I shal be very careful to outline how much I dislike damage to my vehicle.

But again..... what i have experienced sounds like a compressor/bearing issue. Hopefully not the pull the dash out of my car issue.

Been reading up some of the relevant threads..... sounds like even the replacement parts have a high failure rate, and they have been using a few different replacement part numbers...(this is in the USA) so i dunno, it is what it is. just want it fixed.
