Hey guys.
So the US has a dedicated thread for this.
I know we europeans have very different license plates, but maybe some of you can write cool stuff with your plates.
And maybe gimme some ideas :D
Here we have the county abreviation, 2 numbers and 3 letters.
AA00AAA

I was thinking:
IF80OST (boooooooooooost vroom)
IF23BLK (2.3 black stang)
IF07MST (07 is my number)
IF23FUN (I saw a porsche 911 with 911FUN plate and it seemed nice)

What's yours?

I have a five character plate to allow it to be narrower on the front of the car, eg:

F4 STR

(that's not the number, but you get the picture...)

Plate MU57ANG apparently sold for ÂŁ10,000.

We get to choose exactly nothing when it comes to licence plates. We are just ordered to pay 12.322 euro new car tax.

Hi, in Sweden you can choose your own plate for 660 euro for 10 years.
7 letters normally but only 6 letters on the small us size plates that comes with the mustang.

Our plates are in the format AA 000 AA and in theory we can choose the combination.
But since government never release the implementing regulation, we can't have those.
It's the same old story here...

In Greece, you can't choose. You get randomly plates from ministry of transportation (officially) . Three letters-four numbers.

Unofficially you bribe (the proper employee) and order your desired number (not letters) . The more easy number the more you pay. Of course it also depends from the brand name of th car....If you get i.e. a Lamborghini the tariff will go higher....

The plates bond with the car for ever, no matter the owners.

In Germany the number plates are always personal, cost €20. Only the first letter(s) you can not change as this is dependant on the area where the car is regged.

Most seems to go for GT 550, GT 850, S550 etc etc.

Another one example of how idiots are all greek governments.

If they did the same , the majority of people would pay with joy 20 eur and the money will be going to the country's cash, not at the employee's pocket.....

Oh obviously the bribe system exists here too, for having a nice looking plate.. :tsk:
And you have to pay a registration fee based on county and on.. power of the car! What difference would be to register a mustang and a 500?
However for my ecoboost they steal me 975 eur.

The registration fee, here called road tax. The last couple of years in order to collect money, they changed the calculation and you pay the equivalent of remaining months till end of year. i.e. if the annual road tax is 1000 eur and you buy a new car/or take back your plates* end of June, you pay 500.

Before, you have to paid the WHOLE YEAR even you get plates on 30th of December !!

*last 5 years, hundreds of thousands of owners have return back the plates in order to avoid luxury tax, road tax, insurance etc.

It sounds like we are quite lucky in the UK! It can be expensive but we do get a lot of choice...I got a private plate for my 21st birthday & I love it! "T21 KGR" (my initials). Already on retention and with my Ford dealer to go straight on to the Mustang  DVLA has loads of **57ANG plates for sale if anyone in the UK is looking. I liked EB57 ANG for "Ecoboost Stang". Also saw KR15 KGR for myself :) would have snapped that up is I didn't already have one! Was only ÂŁ600
