It's interesting seeing what some peoples automotive journeys to the Mustang have been as posted in various threads. So to take our minds off the long delays I thought I'd start a new thread for people to share their hopefully fond memories.
Here's a run down of my dodgy list:
1976 VW Beetle with modified 1641 engine and dual carb - lots of rust and virtually no flex in the suspension - first car (in 1997) and a disaster
1987 Vauxhall astra - keyless entry and home made 'push button start' thanks to a previous attempt from thieves to knick it. Fortunately it broke down just down the road - this is when the car was given to me. It never worked properly. I used it about twice before it was scrapped
1981 MGB GT - Russet Brown, bit of a rotter - smashed it into a pedestrian guard rail after an 18 hour shift and driving on a damp road. Could have killed me
1996 Chrysler Neon. first 'American' car - loved it, especially the 4 pillars doors and power fold mirrors! Swapped this for...
2000 Chrysler Neon - liked it so just updated. written off a year later when a motorcyclist leapt off his bike in a corner and sent it careering towards me! Replaced with...
2001 Chrysler Neon. Gotta say I liked those Chryslers. A little unrefined but solid and nice leather interior.
2002 Rover 75 (don't laugh) liked the fact it had a V6, squishy suspension and looked a bit like a Lincoln Town Car. Great underrated cars but started to break in expensive places when they'd got beyond 7 years of age.
2003 MG TF pretty basic but great fun to drive but a little impractical. sold to a colleague who kept it going until a part broke that he couldn't get hold of.
1999 Jaguar XJ8 - first taste of the V8 I'd had a hankering for. A bit quiet but I loved the ride quality - like driving a sunseeker! - some plank in a massive lorry pulled out of a junction into the side of it. Written off. Thats when I had to go sensible with my current car...
2005 Saab 9-3 turbo I like it, solid, aged well, good power delivery for a 2.0 and handles well, but just not enough fun factor.
2015/16 Mustang GT - if it ever gets here!
