Just as the title suggests, what do you guys think will happen to the V6's mpg with the 3.55 limited slip? I thought I read somewhere that the EPA data for the V6 was actually achieved with the 3.55's... Anyone have any info to back this up?

Edit: Pulled this from my EPA data thread. This is the quote in question...

"The V6 HP drop is due to a redesigned intake manifold in order to fit the new lowered hood. As for the MPG drops, these are due to the ratings being taken with each engines/transmission upgraded gear ratios. The GT manual is now rated with its 3.73 gears and the automatic is rated with its 3.55 option instead of the original 3.31 and 3.15. Same thing for the V6 as well with the 3.55 and 3.15."

I agree! I think this more then accounts for the v6 mpg drop. Doing a quick search with current 3.7 owners and 3.55 gears turned up "28-29" highway mpg.

Makes sense.

Now, what happened to v6 automatic? Why the 15 only get 29 on 3.15? What would an auto 14 v6 get with 3.15?

Edit: It's 28 mpg highway for 2015 v6 (both manual and auto) according to EPA.

I think that might have more to do with conservative mpg estimates.
The 14s didn't come with 3.15s as an option or did they? Haven't paid that much attention to the 14s....

Edit: I do know that the 14s are not rated at 31mpg highway anymore. The ones I have test drove state 19 city 30 highway now. So we are looking at a 2 mpg drop.

Again, very interesting.

Can not wait to see the real world mpg for 15 v6.

I drove 2 v6 auto mustangs back to back during a test drive session. 3.15 rpms @ 70 was 2000 3.55 was 2200 rpms. The 3.55's would drop out of over drive less going up and down hillls so this would make up for loss of gas mileage on highway. The difference in acceleration was quiet noticeable. Result if you drive lots of highway get 3.15's If more home town driving 3.55's

superdave, this is the most helpful comparison I have seen to address my question of the 3.15 v. 3.55. Appreciate it and any other info others have.

I have a 2015 V6 manual with 3.55 diff. I have nearly 1000 miles on it with 70% city / 30% highway and I'm at 23 mpg. I drive normally.

Not bad milage at all for a 70 city 30 highway split. My V6 might get 1 mpg better then that with the same split.

Since yesterday I own a Blue V6 51a with 3.55 diff. I just drove 100+ miles in Chicago traffic so my mpg could not be too relevant. I will share some figures asap.

I'm at 1800 miles and still about 70% city / 30% highway driving. I'm pushing the car a bit harder now and I'm at 22 mpg.

I do more of a 70% country and 30% city. With almost 2,000 miles on it now my V6 3:55 car is getting mostly 27 miles per gallon average. It will drop to low 26 something in the city, I have even seen 25.5 once, and then with about 45 minutes of country driving, not freeway, it will go back up to 27.8 or so. That means it must be getting more than 28 to keep going up as I drive in the country. I filled up in Cleveland yesterday, reset the screen, and by the time I got home it said 30! That trip would have been about 15% city and 85% country as I live an hour from Cleveland. Then I had to go up a big hill and a small amount of streets to my house and it sits in my driveway right now with a reading of 29.8!
I get on it some, but not all the time as I mostly drive with traffic. Something I noticed, it gets much better mileage on cruise control that I can do by my foot. I think it is just too much fun with my foot so I keep goosing it without really trying to do so! I use my cruise control a lot to keep from speeding because this car really wants to go!

I have 3.55 automatic and I've gotten 30+ mpg on 20-30 mile highway trips. My city MPG is around 16-19, depending on how much stop and go it is.
