Hey guys,

Sad day today, I noticed my first stone chip on the bonnet. Just a tiny one, but still...

Has anyone used Dr. Colorchip yet? From what I've read, it appears to be preferred solution. Any reviews? Anyone tried to match it on race red paint?

Hey Knaps, I feel your pain, just washed the car and found a stone chip on top of the rear guard, must say, never had one on a car there before

I'd be interested in some feedback on Dr Colorchip as well

Yeah, I had few small ones on my cars before, but you could tell they must have been from decent sized rocks, this ones seems quite small, but enough to make the paint come off... Apparently our Stangs don't have the thickest paint :(

I believe Aus-MustangGT has used Dr Colourchip....hit him up for a review. Most touch up paint leaves a bigger mess than the original chip as it sits higher than the surrounding paint...looks like a blob.
Dr Colourchip flows into the chip better...must get some myself before the dreaded chips start.
The mustang paint is no worse than most modern paints...the epa requirements have made paints pretty average these days.

I have used Dr colorchip before and it does a great job, it's not perfect or flawless but I would recommend it

I bought a genuine touch up kit from a Ford dealer in the UK, it came with a base coat and clear coat. I've had to use it a couple of times and it is a perfect match. It was approximately $40 delivered.

The Ford paint seems to level itself quite well.

An idea for those of you who haven't taken delivery of your beast yet ask you salesperson to complimentary throw in a touch up pod.

Wild B,

Haven't heard of anyone using the genuine Ford touch-up kit.

Is it a painful process and how long does it take to apply and cure?

It was really easy to apply to be honest, I used a small brush that I bought from Car Care Products as the chips were a bit too small for the one in the lid of the paint. I just carefully dabbed it on and left it, it seemed to dry quite quickly.

I only used the clearcoat on one of the chips, the others looked fine without.

Wild B,

Thanks. I think I will give it a try.
