Spent all day yesterday at VIR, car was exceptional. I'm now shopping for new tires and wanted to ask if anyone has track time experience with any other tires besides the Cup 2? I have no complaints whatsoever with the Cup 2's, just wondering if there is a better track tire out there--besides dedicate track tires such as a Hoosier A7 or R7.

Thanks for the help!

I'm running Trofeo r 305s all around, very happy with it, my decision was made on price, found a good deal . Will stick with trofeo or sport cups for the next set, unless the re71r come out much cheaper.

Yea, I know others who are happy with the re71r's. Wish they have a 315's for the rear.

Ive used NT01 in previous cars as well as slicks. NTs are a great value and last quite a long time.

I've been using NT01's and have been happy with the performance

The Toyo R888r is the replacement of the R888 and supposedly even better/longer lasting. I prefered the R888 over the NT01 because of it's crisper sidewall. These are worth a try. The only reason I haven't tried them is I love the weight savings with the Cup2. Other tires in same size are typically 4-5lbs heavier.

It was a +11lbs going from CF/MPC2s to NFS/MP4S per wheel!! But on street the 4S combo is fantastic!

wow...didn't realize the MPSC2's were so light. How much a set and what's the fit like on a non-R GT350?

Comparably priced to other streetable track tires. Fitment is perfect. Designed for the car in OEM R sizes. Best to run 305s on 11 inch wheels, but you can run square or staggered sizing on oem 350 wheels without issue.

That's part of why they perform so well. Michelin is the world's best tire manufacturer for a reason.

I wouldn't put square tires on staggered GT350 wheels. Sure you 'can' but it'll adversely affect steering feel and response.

A good read:

The Great Tire Debate in the 1LE forums on Camaro5 was between the OEM Goodyear Eagle F1s and the MPSS.

I ran the Goodyears. I didn't have any issues.

Adding unsprung weight is definitely part of equation. Thinking about putting the carbon fiber rotors on the front--33 lb lighter than the stock rotors but a little over $6k all in with racing pads.

I've had Cup2's, R888's, Nt01's, and Hoosier R7's on my 350R, and the only tire that has produced a better lap time than the factory Cup2's is the Hoosiers. Ford did a fantastic job picking/developing the right tire for the 350R. The Nt01's, and R888's are just as sticky, probably even slightly more grip, but just don't have the front end feel of the cup2's, and can be kind of numb at the limit.
