Just like most in this thread, I can confirm mine was loose. 2017 here with 2400 miles. Looked just like the OP and I felt it seat over the barb with only light pressure.

Is this really a problem or just a visual problem. Has there actually been any type of failure. Just wondering if 10 years from now if it wouldn't have mattered if the hose was pushed further or not.

If the rubber seal inside the end of the tube isn't all the way over the flared end of the nipple, I'd think there's a possibility the tube could eventually work itself off the nipple. Best to have it seated 100% on to the nipple.

Maybe it's just in my head, but since pressing the fitting back onto the nipple and adding a cable tie to the end to secure it my 2-3 shifts are noticeably smoother and lack the gear "nibble" that I'd felt previously.

So, hey, that's nice!

I checked mine today, it's in the middle and doesn't want to go any further up after a girly push so leaving as is.

I zip tied mine today because it was at the end of the nipple. The zip tie grabs the rubbery end and the whole line doesn't seem to want to come off anymore.

Mine took just a little more pressure than what I would consider a light push. Some fluid wept from the end when I first tried, but I gave it a little extra and felt a very satisfying snap as it engaged over the barb.

You sure that wasn't the nipple breaking?

Mine was at about 8mm and a bit angled, I was only able to push it to about a 5mm gap, since that line is so short. No wetness or signs of leaking though before I toyed with it.

ya you'll get a bit of fluid come through if you push it back on, as you're effectively shortening the line and the pressure has to go somewhere.
