Hmmm, I swapped everything over from my MT-82 with out issue.
Weird cuz when I installed the tranny my bearing was fully collapsed and wouldn't go any further. Actually the GT500 clutch is 1" taller than the stock clutch so it wouldn't fit. I can't explain it.

Wait, you have a gt500 clutch? That may be the difference. My first clutch was a RST from my 82 that I had the discs resplined. Second was a fresh RXTHD with the 26 spline discs also designed for the 82.

I did not have a gt500 clutch. Could that be the issue?

That is exactly the difference. With the RXT GT500 clutch it will
Be necessary to use the shorter GT500 throwout as well. Good info to know.

Good to know. I wasn't aware we could get the gt500 clutch.

Thats why i dont understand why 331's wont work with the 6060,they worked good in the gt500.And these s550's are putting some hp/tq down,im almost at 600 to the wheels.I know the gt500 came with 331's my buddy has one.
Works enough for 1.6x 60ft even with 2.66 first gear (would work better with the 2.97) . I think you wil need a steeper gear if you want anything better .

It does have and advantage of staying in 3rd in the 1/4 with 148 mph traps .

This is all good info. Thanks for posting. As an S550 newbie, I'm wondering what prompted you to go to the time and expense to swap the whole tranny? Mine seems to shift fine, and when it doesn't, it is more operator error than the fault of the tranny. Just curious.

MT 82 is not strong enough for the power he's making.

That's really the same reason why I upgraded. Instead of grenading the stock Mt82 I can now resell it on great condition. I didn't want to destroy anything.

I will be honest I was initially not so sure the Magnum shifted that much better than my MT 82 with the MGW.
However as it breaks in more it feels better and better .
I had mine "built" with added Carbon synchro's by D&D so hoping that adds some strength (still only rated for 700 ft-lbs of torque and I am sure I am making a bit more )
I was able to sell mine before it broke and got $600 for it .Also sold my one piece DS so the overall cost of the upgrade was reasonable .
I had planned on swapping in a different motor so to was a good time for the swap .
Feels like I have an all new and different car .

Yes the Dakota Digital SGI-5E is a nice one to use.
So with the tr6060 its needed but with the t56 it's not needed. I wonder why?
