Seems the stock tires have a load number of 98y, but I don’t see them readily available, most tire places have 102 or 104, some have 99 or 100. Where can u get the correct tire? Or is there a replacement option for street and some track that is equivalent or better, same dimensions?

you can always go with PS4. about same dry grip, but better wet.

or or with RS4, much grippier in dry, but louder, shorter life, bad in wet.

I believe it is not the load value, exactly. The 98 is the bespoke tire for the Shelby and the other is the general version.

Somebody needs to go to a Ford dealership and see what's on the 2017's on the lot. I think the 100's are the direct replacement for the 98's, but there's no way to be sure. What was different about the Ford OEM tires was their amazing durability and ability to shed heat. They were made in the USA and they had the shallowest tread of all the MPSS's. The 100's are made in the USA and they have the same shallow tread - 7.5 32nd's instead of 8 or 10 32nd's on all the other versions of that tire.

There might have been a running change for some reason, but they're probably the same tire for all practical purposes.

I have a 2017, fronts are 100Y and rears are 102Y. These are the ones that came on the car as well...

FYI When I did the Track Attack event in Utah they said we should check with them for new tires. I guess they buy a boat load of them and can give us pretty good prices. I haven't needed new ones yet so can't address how good the prices are. Maybe someone else knows

Michelin only makes 1 305/35-19 -which is the GT350's rear tire. They make 3 different 295/35-19 tires, 2 of which are labeled "BMW" and "Mercedes". The remaining one (100Y) is the GT350 Front tire:

PS4S run wider and would be a better fit on the 0.5" wider R wheels. I wouldn't put PS4S' 295/305 on a GT350.

Plus the GT350's PSS is 'bespoke' and custom made for the chassis. It's unlikely the off the shelf PS4S would perform any better.

Most people think of grip as "performance", and the bespoke MPSS tires for the GT350 have excellent grip, but the real performance boost is the ability to handle heat and wear.

I stopped using street tires at the track years ago because they turn to goo after about three laps.

Well, the GT350 MPSS's DON'T turn to goo. They don't have quite the grip of the MPSC2's, but they can handle the workload without getting mushy.

By the way, the front MPSC2's that come on the GT350R are 98Y. Maybe that's where the confusion is coming from.

That's because the GT350 has pretty wide tires compared to a base GT, Camaro SS, old Pontiac GTO, M3, etc... In addition, the tire is made specifically for the GT350 to improve wear and handling characteristics.

The Cup2 is in a different class that's more track-focused and gives up a lot in terms of street ability and wet performance. It's all a trade off.

Thanks for the clarification between the R's (98y) Cup2 front vs the GT350's (100y) PSS front.
