The Voodoo 5.2 only makes 91 more hp than the Coyote now.
The 2018 5.0 with D.I. should be around 460 pluss hp . Only a 66 hp difference .
Add to that the PERFORMANCE PACK 2 which probably is going to have magride and dual mode exhaust, and something close to gt350 spec wheels and tires .

I just think because of the new GTs performance getting that much closer to the current gt350 , they must be doing something.

I assume that the 5.2 block has the same provisions for Direct Injection as the 5.0

I don't know much about it but I recall reading that the 5.2 did not take well to direct injection and that's why the production engine doesn't have it. I haven't seen anything that says that Ford overcame the problems of direct injection on the 5.2.

Others with more knowledge on this issue may chime in.

I hope never. DI with PI is OK but too many carbon build up issues with pure DI.

Yeah, strictly direct, no thanks. I'm interested to see how the port and direct holds up in my raptor.

Again, Mmmmm...no. It'll probably be the same wheels and tires as the Performance Pack but with MagneRide, unique springs, and maybe basic dual piece 6 pot, 4 pot and solid rotors brake system. I'm willing to bet the Performance Pack hardly changes as it sits now.

Bingo. I owned one of the first DI engines sold in the U.S. DI has some great benefits (higher compression from reduced piston temps primarily). That makes it great on a car you don't intend to keep forever (someone else is dealing with the sludge on the valves of that car now). However, I have no interest in owning a DI engine in a car I intend to hang onto, unless the manufacturer has added a secondary port injection system to keep the valves clean.

(I don't follow the truck scene, so I wasn't aware that the Raptor had DI+PI. That's encouraging for future engine development.)

I don't think so; not on the 5.2

Direct injection would add issues I don't really want to deal with. Voodoo is pretty awesome as is.

You're saying the voodoo came in a DI prototype? How come nobody has talked about it? You might recall reading about it but I've heard nothing about it.

The Coyote has the castings I thought.

Pretty sure Ford tried DI on the Voodoo but they said there wasn't much benefit in using it and port injection worked fine.
