I have helped install both. I have a paxton on my car and my buddy has a procharger D1SC. There are benefits to each kit. If i were to do it again i would try turbo or whipple but then again the grass is always greener on the other side.
Procharger Pros:
- Easier Install
- Don't have to cut fan shroud or airbox
- Low temperature operation
- Inlet seems much less restrictive and pulls air out of fender well
- Easier to change pulley while on the car
- Stock BOV seem quieter at idle and cruise
- Potentially less belt slip with 8 Rib

CONS Procharger
- Steel piping rusts
- More rubberconnections than paxton kit
- Possible additional stress on crank using additional pulley with stage two kit
- Cost more

Paxton Pros
- Aluminum piping
- Less stress on crank using aftermarket tensioner
- Head unit flows slightly more
- Cheaper
- Kit appears to have higher quality hardware

Cons
-Inlet is tight and more restrictive
- Coolant tank relocated
- Must trim fan shroud and air box

I got my beefcake special Paxton installed a few weeks ago. I keep telling myself to quit being lazy and do a nice youtube video review but I just haven't gotten to it yet. I had a shop install mine, but I showed up for the last few hours of work and helped them here and there (buddies of mine). Everything fit great. It's tight, but that's the nature of the beast. They said overall the install was pretty easy. The only thing that tripped us up was the vac line routing really. I have the gt350IM so it was not exactly the same as the instructions. A little trial and error and she purrs like a kitten now.

I got the Paxton w/ the 3.6 pulley. I had a BAP already, but I grabbed some DW1000 injectors and had LUND do the tune on 93 oct.

Lund sent me a base revision and it was damn good. Ran smooth, ran up through the rpm range really well. I got some base logs then it was time for WOT. Very first WOT pull I did....POP. Goddamn coupler blew off on the intercooler discharge side. I put it on another friends lift and we put it back together nice and snug. Second WOT pull..POP. blew the one off after the MAF! Car was instantly dead at that point. Got it put back together again, and now she's tight as a drum. I would say when you're dealing w/ a smaller pulley (even tho mine is still mild) get some upgraded clamps.

Now that the fun stuff is over, I'm impressed. Very impressed in fact. I actually didn't want the rowdy twin screw characteristics. I wanted it to drive fairly normal until I wanted it to go nuts. The Paxton is everything I wanted. It drives absolutely civil until I get the rpm's up a bit. It's quiet for the most part, but definitely a hint of BOV noise. The car pulls hard as hell once you get above 5k. i got the majority of the tuning done while it was still 55-60 degrees here, but now it's <40 and i can't even go WOT in 3rd without a smoke show. Dyno time is booked for next week to hopefully get the final log done.

Install/fit: 8/10 cuz of the damn couplers
drivability: 10/10 perfect manners
power: 10/10 gnarly! can't wait for summer when i can put stickies back on.
looks/sound: 10/10 awesome show piece!

Mods: Paxton 3.6, gt350IM, tsp catless headers, dw1000's, vmp BAP. 3.31 car, mt82.

Thanks to beefcake and lund for the awesome service. Loving it!

Yes and to add to this when we took my kit off manual.car to put it my auto car the cold side steel pipe had rust on the inside, something I was not happy about at all,I need to take that pipe off again and make sure nothing is going in my motor.

Interested in getting one of these, which would run the quietest? Not looking for any whine while daily driving.

I can't hear mine at all.... (P1X with helical gears)

Even with the mufflers in the "quiet" mode.

To be devils advocate, if a person just used the "HO" kit almost all those cons go away.

1) Same amount of connections
2) No added crank stress (runs off 6 rib)
3) Cost stays low

Then you are running the same set up that put the MAK 2018 well into the 9's. :) With loads more of room to grow with a few pulley drops.

And there is an "EO" option as well.

NOTE: But yes still steel piping, I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Ive had both kits while both kits are good i like the Pro charger better..

1) easier to change belts if needed.
2) your car will get you home if a belt breaks.
3) easier to change pulleys without having to remove the head unit.
4) no cold weather restrictions, Paxton does.
5) no belt slip with 8rib set up. My paxton belt slipped.
6) no permanent modifications to oem parts.
7) easier to return to stock.
8) big ass intercooler allows for cooler inlet temps!
9) that lovely supercharger whine of the straight cut gears!
10) the choice to silence that whine with helical gears.
11) cleaner maf signal do to a better mounting location. Better drivability.
12) Easier to install by far..
The only advantage the paxton/ vortech kit is the price, and folks shop their wallets.

I would consider JT or oil fed Paxton because Paxton is over spun easily with anything smaller than 3.6. There is a good chance the 3.33 will kill it fast.
a 3.33 @ 7200 is only 700 rpms over,

From the calculator I saw it is actually just under 53,000 at 7200 but who would only turn it 7200. Most are turning the car 7500. I think it is money well spent to upgrade the head unit t have breathing room. I would never order it new with the intent to run 3.33. That just doesn't make good sense. It would be nice if vortech and paxton would step up the RPM capability of self contained units. Since I already own the 2200SL I hope it takes RPM well.

I had a Paxton (through Terry --excellent guy to work with!) on my 2014 prior to going turbo. Paxton was a great kit. I used worm drive clamps and never blew any hose connections.

Drivability was good, not perfect, but good.

I was annoyed at how loud the BOV was under all conditions other than WOT.

Maybe im just getting old.
