Hey gmookher, thanks for the questions.

1) as our entire kit is TIG-welded in the first place, the question of using chromoly tubing is a valid one. However, there are a couple of things that serve to mitigate its weight advantage (because of the use of thinner wall material). First is that our system, although employing both an integrated harness bar and a diagonal, uses a relatively short amount of tubing (as compared to a full-on 8-point cage). Further, the main hoop straddles the main cross beam (for maximum strength and to eliminate any potential for punch-through as compared to floor mount systems) - but this makes our main hoop and down tubes both shorter and inherently stronger. In sum, chromoly tubing in our application would save only a very modest amount of weight. PM me if you remain interested. Pragmatically, we could consider it but only when we go to run a second "batch" of roll-bar kits.

2) Thanks to ask about other color availability. Just to emphasize, for a more complete and durable lifetime finish, all of our bar kits are powdercoated and not painted. Developing a custom-color - Avalanche Gray, as an example would only be practical if we could amortize the cost of developing the color over several dozen like-coated bars. That said, we still have a couple of worthy options. Our powder coating shop uses color from Cardinal Paint. Here is a link to their std colors. http://cardinalpaint.com/products/productcat.php?pcid=2&cctid=11 If you look under "Computer" color tabs, perhaps either Quartz Gray or Light Gray might be a very close match and/or complementary color? Another option is that we can ship a bar bar assembly to you at a discount and then you can use the discount to have the bar kit painted Avalanche Gray locally. (I say locally because on a painted bar, I would prefer that it is painted AFTER the shipping to mitigate any possibility of scratches.)
The car is strictly for toy usage at the track:

1-I'd take the drive over to cali with my R to OC for a custom turnkey DOM or cro-mo install by you, can you PM me a quote please?

2-red, black or a grey will work, need not be a perfect match, like the red photos!

Just received a new batch of roll bar kits for the GT/GT350/GT350R! We have the most popular color choices in stock now. Ford Race Red, Metallic GunMetal Gray (like the 2013 Boss 302 Laguna Seca x-brace), and Satin Black. In addition, we have several completed but un-coated bar kits awaiting your preference of powdercoating.

Our Roll Bar Kits are unique insofar;

  • The harness bar is kicked-back to allow for full rearward seat travel. Many taller drivers will have more incline on their seat to allow for additional headroom because of a helmet.
  • All of our GT/350/R kits incorporate a diagonal in plane with the main hoop (NASA/SCCA specs) as well as a connector tube to the harness bar which remains rearward for full seat travel.
  • Our roll bars DO NOT require a rear seat delete kit. The downtubes pierce the plastic side panels allowing you to keep the rear seats in place for better aesthetics and sound deadening. If you wantto incorporate a RSD kit - or if you have an R, installation is the same.
  • Like our popular S197 kits, we mount (3/16" steel) base plates to the cross beam using existing holes and then the Main Hoop attaches to these Base Plates with Grade 8 hardware (included).
  • The downtubes mount to the reinforced steel section of the car that forms the box structure for the rear seat shoulder harness spool.
  • To aid in installation, all nuts in the kit are captive - so there is never an install step when you are required to hold a nut and drive a bolt at the same time.

Just installed one of these and it is great. Took 2 of us about 6-7 hours, but that included lots of breaks due to 90 degree Texas heat.
