For the guys running e85 all the time,is their fuel.additive that u use to help combat the corrosive effects that come from moisture and the hard deposits that come with using e85.I know not leaving it sit for weeks at a time helps but it their anything else that can be done to help protect the fuel system components over the long haul?

I have run E85 for the better part of 10+ years....

I randomly add a touch of "Marvel Mystery Oil" to the tank, based on a recommendation by old school Pro5.0 driver Jim Summers...

I have never ever had a single issue related to the fuel.
BUT, remember you can't leave it sit for more then 30 days....
AND never ever store it without running pump gas through it....

I also run pump gas through it about once every 60 days to clean the injector tips.

I use Lucas Oil Safeguard Ethanol Fuel Conditioner.
Do u know if it effects the octane rating of the e85,I would think not but I like to make sure when running any additive.

I agree and seen the effects on our fleet trucks when leaving them sit for over 30 days, costly repairs. But I'm heading that route very soon and will just make sure to not leave my car sit for long periods of time.

I've been running straight pump E85 for going on 18 months I think. I've never added anything to the tank - but I do go through about 2 tanks a week of fuel when I'm driving it regularly. Last time the injectors were out about 6 months ago they looked fine.

It might look good this year.....

But I assure you, it depends on what the stations "cut" the fuel with.
(and that changes from season to season)

On a car making big power, its a very very good idea to take the 10 min. and pull the rails off the car at least once a season to look at the tips of the injectors.

Sometimes you will find the injector tip covered with what I can only describe as "sap" .... pump gas cleans it right off, so thats why I run pump through every now and then.... but my friends that run E85 for a full year or two without doing that, can get injectors with very very badly blocked spray patterns.

Again, nothing the end of the world. But the 10 min. it takes to check is WELL worth the piece of mind. :)

Yep eacatly what I seen in our trucks, should have seen the pumps and filter!!!!.Thats what scares me about e85,guess u just have to be prepared to do checks and run 93 hear and their.Their is a station near me that sells a lot of vp racing fuel and takes pride in their e85 so that is where I will get mine.

E85 near me is where all of the local high hp cars come and get it. They check every station refill to make sure it's at least E85 year round and they just recently upgraded the station pumps. I'll check my injectors when I do my new radiator and oil cooler install.

And that’s why most wont run e85. Need a new fuel system and check clean filters and injectors way more often than pump 91/93 not worth it to me.

The power bump makes it worth it. Just something to add to the list of maintenance checks, no big deal. Gotta do something while I'm waiting for the oil to drain.

Plus the safety barrier that e85 gives the high hp cars over pump 93.

What safety barrier. People just make the timing up to octane level of e85. No different than 16-19 with 93 vice 20-23 with e85. So yes you can raise timing since octane is higher but same logic max out timing with 93 and max out timing with e85. If you only say 19 on e85 I see your safety net
