Hi Folks,

I need to replace a faulty part in my Steeda short-shift.

This involves removing my Roush shifter ball, which was installed (as per instructions) with the Blue loc-tite.

Now the little bugger wont come off. Any hints and tips beyond brute force, because brute force doesnt seem to be working at the moment :(

Well... The answer really is brute force. The problem probably is that you don't have enough strength or leverage. Wrap cardboard and something grippy around the knob so you don't scratch it, and use a big wrench to take it off. Should not be hard.

I used a pipe wrench to remove a red locktited shift ball, but I didn't care about preserving the knob.

Wrap a microfiber around the knob, squeeze real hard and twist.

Having just done this, what they said, a chamois might help too. Warm it up with a hair dryer.

wrap a couple rubber bands around it. should give you enough grip to turn it.

Rubber bands and heat are good tips thanks.

Have ordered a rubber strap wrench, unfortunately Harbor Freight doesnt exist here, so everything is via the internet with a 2-3day lead time.

So frustrating when you cant even start a job because you dont have the right tools for the first step!

That does suck, sorry. Sears or auto parts store may carry them as well.

Thanks all.
