Timing Sprocket Failures

Has anyone other than MMR (or their affiliates...Bama) seen these fail? If so, under what conditions? Burnouts on the rev limiter, etc.?

Has anyone seen a 15's fail? I know there has been a bunch of people making 700rwhp+ on stock gears. Even a few making 800+ I believe...

I'm sure there have been a couple. The only failure I have seen that is attributable to a timing sprocket was the Bama car - which is not terribly surprising considering how rough (6500k clutch dumps, and rev limiter burnouts) they were on the car.

Mine broke driving down the road at 2500 and hitting the throttle. I was around 650 then. I had to replace 8 valves.

The Bama car breaking had nothing to do with MMR.

Your timing sprocket? Or your motor broke due to another failure?

No the Bama car had nothing to do with mmr, but they do schill for mmr. Thanks.

My timing gear broke! Once it broke the pistons hit the valves.
I had already done the Billet Oil Pump so it would have been simple to slip on the billet gear. I had never seen them break on the 11-14. The gear is smaller on the 15.

Bama has a RGR - JPC motor now. The only MMR part is probably the timing gear. I am now building a 16. First thing I am doing is oil pump gear and timing sprocket.

Thanks. I'm surprised more guys aren't seeing thisif they're really that weak. I have already done opg and don't want to go back in for the sprocket. What did it cost you in motor repairs?

the 15s are smaller.......

I got lucky the pistons were ok. I did all the work myself. $800 in parts plus 12 hours of my time.

I know it sucks but I would do it. The part is cheap insurance. And you wont have to worry.

What does a harmonic balancer have to do with the timing sprocket?

If this timing sprocket is an issue, I would think all vendors selling blower packages should be advising their customers to upgrade this along with the opg when selling them a blower package!
