I would say direct contact in the sunlight at those temps and duration would be bad, just like your cell phone. But if it's in your glove box not in direct sunlight it should be fine. I've had mine in my glove box for a year now with Chicago outside temps ranging from -20 to 100 degrees and havnt had a problem yet. I'd say just don't leave it in the sun.
My SCT X4 sits in the sun all year round in both black mustangs. Haven't had a single issue with it and it gets up near 100 here.

So this 87-89 perf-econ tune has my mpg up, 20.3 driven at drive. Wallet per gallons is down but smiles per gallon is also down. Now mpg was done with 93 octane in the tank. I just filled up with 87 octane so I'll see how it affects the mpg.

It is worth noting that since I started driving a bunch of highway my mpg was 19.3 with 93PRX driven mostly in sport.
Good to know, my mpg in drive on both highway and city was 25, on the 93 PR-X tune, on just highway I got it to 32.5 and that was not driving like an old lady. keep us informed on this tank and on the any octane one if you do try it out for us.

Just a quick update with the 87-89 perf-econ tune, last fill up I was 19.5mpg.
Right now I have over half a tank left and I am at 20.8mpg but we will see. It started really high at almost 24mpg but stop and go traffic really killed that quick.
I wonder what kind of milage I would get with the 87PRX.

Just placed my order for the SCT X4 tuner through MPT! Now the long wait until it arrives so I can order my 87-89 PR-X tune. I am very excited for the increased throttle response and higher smiles per gallon. :headbang:

Thanks to everybody who chimed in on this thread. Really helped sell me on getting the MPT tune.

When you get the tuner check the menu to increase the % for your auto tranny. I have mine set at 25% over factory shifts great.

And that's on top of what MPT already did with their PR-X tune or you are overriding their value? I was worried that the shifts in PR-X tunes might be harsh already, that seems like pushing it (if it is in addition to MPT's adjustments). I have no reference though, I will try their tune first and see if I like it or not. I just don't want to hear loud clunks as its racing through the gears :D

I've had my auto tranny set at 25% over factory for 2 years and 13,000+. I paddle shift up and down as if it was a manual. The only time it shift firm is at high RPM's.

Switched back to 93PRX and I am happy with it. My final thoughts on the 87-89 perf-econ tune is that it sucks. It is not worth it and people should just stick to the 87/91/93 PRX tunes. My mileage was the same and the only savings I got were from the difference in price of 87 octane vs 93 octane. It could also depend where you live and traffic conditions that you see. I might end up getting the 87PRX for when I travel to places where 93 octane is not available.

Did you ever try the any octane tune you have or after the last tune just gave up and went back to 93 ? a lot of people have said after you run the 93 tune nothing comes close and they just stay with it and put the stock tune back in if they cant get 93 on a trip
