You are going to lose your ass, but selling it and buying an '18 GT with the new AT would be a really solid option. Other than the losing your ass, part.

This.

The new automatic will be far better and shift as fast as a dual clutch. The current automatic is a dog....

Absolutely, 100% the wrong move. Beat on that motor, and start doing it now. If you don't, you'll have an oil-burner.

Seriously, don't baby it.
X2 mine uses no oil at all

Trade it on an 18 with a 10 speed auto.

Might have to eat the cost and go auto. Back pain sucks. Best of luck

-Like Bob_With said "Find another doc".
-But 2; before doing that: go see a Chiropractor. One worked wonders with a relative of mine with serious back problems.

And yes, you will regret giving up the Mustang for a Civic, yes that Pale green Civic 4 door auto with 110 hp that goes 0-60 in a dangerous 12 secs. The 18 sec quarter mile will also give you time to balance your checkbook before you get to the end of each block.
This, is the best answer you will get. A Chiropractor worked wonders on my back.

There is a clutch assist spring in there which already lightens the clutch effort.

If you found a stiffer spring with the right dimensions, it should work.

Edit: The steeda spring is lighter, you don't want that one it will increase the pedal effort.
The lighter spring makes it easier to depress. I have one Installed. Lighter means less pressure pushing against you.

Until you trade it in, put your heated seat on low heat. I have mine on most of the time even in summer nights. Great for my back

I really appreciate everyone's thoughts...and now I have a CHIRO appointment this afternoon. (Crossing my fingers!)

Try the taping method, it costs nothing and might work. Just duct tape one of these to the back of the clutch pedal arm.

So simple...I'll give it a shot.

Thanks!

Work out, do physical therapy, improve your health - if you can't push the clutch because of your back, chances are it will make other things difficult as well. Focus on that, not on your car - then enjoy driving it when you get better.

Automatics are slush boxes. Always have been, always will be.

All joking aside, hope everything works out for you. Your back, your trade, your wallet.

This extender may work a bit better than the previous posted. Link
