Why does everyone think a single option on a GT was going to compete with a $70,000 1LE?

What are you talking about?
Camaro 1SS 1LE = $44,995
Mustang GT PP2 = $44,495

It's $500 difference, so of course you should expect that the newer car can perform on par with the 1LE. But actually I don't believe that the new GT can deliver that, Ford is way too quiet about the 2018 GT Performance.

Oh okay, I was thinking everyone was talking about the ZL1 1LE. My bad.

The bigger question is what the actual suspension tuning will be like. If they have tuned it as well as the GT350, it will be an awesome car and well worth the $44,500, even if it is slower than an SS 1LE. If the tuning is much more comfort oriented, or if it doesn't have the same level of balance, then it may not be worth the premium.

It really comes down to what Ford has decided they want to do with the Mustang. Hopefully they will leverage all of the learning and development from the GT350 and apply that to the regular Mustang with magneride such that it handles similarly. If so, that would be a pretty amazing car IMO.

It sucks that the 1LE will still out perform the GTPP2 but that Camaro does nothing for me so it's not really an option.
The base 1SS Cam has magnetic dampers, it'll destroy a new mustang performance pack. Because, the magnetic dampers are a stand alone option on all Mustang GT performance pack or Eco-performance pack cars. The damn mustangs performance pack should have the magnetic dampers to justify its $1500 increase from the old PP. because otherwise there is no difference in the performance packs from the old car to this new one, which justifies the huge price increase.

Are we sure this will have Recaros? The package doesn't mention them.

Curious to see how it takes the track when tested. I was surprised that the 10 speed automatic could not be ordered with this late available package when the 673 package was initially listed months back.

Ford seems hellbent on alienating its loyal Mustang fans.

Fan since 1964, owner from 69 - 74 and then continuously from 88 through the foreseeable future.:D

See first post with the DORA/invoice.
Strange to not list it in the actual package drop down. I think there is a lot missing or unknown about this package.

Serious question. Is the 5.0 Engine THAT much more expensive than the LSx derivative in the Camaro?

I ask because of how much more stuff is in the SS 1LE vs this. E-diff, external coolers, wider forged 20" wheels with wider tires, 6 pot Brembos front, 4 rear, etc. For pretty close to the same price.

Been saying that since 2014 :headbang:

Ditto...that...and it's freaking faster than the manual. Again, why does Ford do this with their fastest Mustangs? The GT350, the 2018 PP2, are intending to be faster versions but get "slowed down" with a slower trans. Why not the option at least?...autos ain't just for commuting any more. Manuals are just a hobby these days. Don't get me wrong. I ain't no millennial snowflake, I learn to drive a manual on a 1966 Beatle when I was 7, and my 2008 race car is a manual. But jeez Louise, technology has changed and Ford keeps their fastest Mustangs with the slowest driveline. Ain't no manual in the Ford GT, is there?!?!?
Yoo-hoo, Ford, you listening????
