I've seen some car magazines (such as Road & Track) mention that the manual transmission in the 2018 Mustang will have some "improvements" from the GT350.

Does anyone know anything about this? Will there be any improvements, or is it still the same old Chinese made MT-82?

Thanks!

Just me or is this marketingspeak smoke and mirrors?

6-speed manual transmission upgraded for optimal torque. Totally redesigned to include twin-disc clutch and dual-mass flywheel to increase torque capability and more efficient clutch modulation (increases compression ratio from 11.0:1 to 12.0:1)

"TOTALLY redesigned", but only discusses the clutch and flywheel... Utter silence on the MT82s crappy shift gates and "what gear am I in now?" linkage...

I've been contemplating getting a 2018 GT and going with the 10 speed auto. Tired of my notchy MT-82. If the 18's manual is significantly better I may go manual. Will have to see when they actually arrive to test drive one.

If they only "upgraded" the clutch, I don't think it'll be much better. The MT-82 will still have the same problems as before. If I were getting an 18' I'd go 10-speed auto. If it was a 15-17' I'd go manual.

Why's that?

That said, I agree that the clutch ****ing sucks.

Most important thing is the Thud and slack. Are they going to fix that for the 2018? We shall see.
